I'm in bed but was gonna do this real quick. Self recs.

I was going to put my Xmas Fic I wrote for meus venator - http://alexisjane.livejournal.com/285361.html - coz I really like these guys...but then the challenge is to rec three things!

I've been thinking about Sunday, Maybe Monday a lot - http://alexisjane.livejournal.com/271063.html - probably going to work on it some more, turn it into a full length story. I miss those boys.

And I know it's not technically fannish but I made this pic for my Daniel and Elliott story and I just really love it! - http://alexisjane.livejournal.com/256701.html - I can't use it for promo as I don't have the images rights but oh my heart...I really wish I did : )

Anyway. Sleep now. More tomorrow Xxx
alexisjane: (a- huh?)
Spend months crafting a story. Spend even more time promoting, and cajoling people to leave a like or a review or a comment.

Spend five fucking seconds drawing a frog. Post it on a bullet journal FB comm. 24hrs later...

...lol! Who knew people liked frogs so much! Maybe I should quit writing and take up full time doodling ; )

And yes, I've started bullet journalling : ) It's pretty awesome. I probably do a post about it soon x

I know today is somewhat special in parts but...is anyone sober enough to give a quick once over to a pinch hit Xmas gift? I'd love to get it to the giftee today if I can.

Ta, sweetie *kisses you*

Talk of injury, armed forces fatalities, PTSD, some sex, nothing very explicit or graphic...written so quickly, my brain hurts

How would you like to read novels, novellas, shorts and samples from over 80 authors for free?

Well, you can do just that this week with the Big Gay Fiction Giveaway.

Running until the 27th November, the giveaway has something for everyone — sports, shifters, crime, menage, family, comedy, historical...you name it. Clicking on the book (or books...I may have clicked quite a few already) will take you to Instafreebie, where all you do is sign up to the author's newsletter, pick which format you'd like and the free book will be delivered to you.

It's a brilliant way to discover new authors, and nab some stories that you might already have your eye on. Stocking up for the winter months ahead is always a good idea. Plus, they're free so it's the perfect opportunity!

You can peruse the books here - www.michaeljensen.com/free-books/

I'm offering Home Is Where You Are if you don't already have it.

Happy shopping!

The last few days I've felt like the world is a terrible place and everything hurts. I'm angry and despairing to find myself living in these times. I'm afraid for my child's future, scared to death for my friends in the US. I feel helpless and hopeless. There's nothing I can do to make things better.

So, I'm just going to write. And love my dog. And support the people who can make a difference. And not keep quiet if I see someone being verbally abused in the street. And know that if I have to fight, I'll probably lose but still do it anyway. And open my door to anyone who needs a safe place to stay. And open my arms to anyone that feels unloved. I'm going to talk about trivial nonsense online, and post stupid memes, and act like my heart is not breaking. It is. There's no getting back to normal, there's only living. So, I'm going to do that. I just wanted you to know.

Mourn today.

But for Christ's sake...tomorrow...be the marching band ♥

I just found out someone I thought was a really nice, genuine, hard-working writer is not only a plagarist, but actually plagerized one of my favourite fanfic authors.

It's making me feel sick that I've been duped by this person, but also I'm feeling really fucking insecure about my fanfic right now. I'm torn between leaving it up for you guys, and wanting to protect myself by taking it all down.

Mostly, I'm just really fucking angry about the whole thing. The only saving grace is that the publisher was informed just after it was released, took it down and refunded people's money.

Muthafuckers...wine with lunch today, I think.

Looking to get some reviews on Amazon (US and UK) and Goodreads for 'Tis the Season. I have 28 copies to give away.
27k - 81 pages - festive romance - second chances - contemporary

So far the feedback has been great, but books live and die with reviews--and I'm talking quantity not quality very often. Give me a three-star, one word review on anything I write and I'll be a very happy bunny--and right now this is dying (poor little book) So I'm on a review drive!

Blurb and whatnot... )

So, if you follow me on Facebook you might know that yesterday I had some sad news and spent most of the day weeping and moping around.

Today, I decided that I should stop feeling so sad and try to remember some happy things. This is them.

But first, the sadness.

Sad, sad news... )

Win Signed Copies and Other Things because I'm a year older!!

So, it was my birthday the weekend before last and I fully intended to do something lovely for my readers to celebrate. But then I ended up pretty much just enjoying my birthday and didn't get around to it. And then work happened, and then I went away for more birthday shenanigans...needless to say, no prize draw happened.

Instead, you'll just have to put up with a post-birthday-post-unbirthday extravaganza of goodies!!

Signed paperback copies of both Home Is Where You Are and Returning Home, some of the bits and pieces that I had in the UK Meet swag bag, plus bonus Curly Wurly...and maybe some other things if I can get them ready in time for posting.

The draw will last from 12am - 4 Oct to 12am - 8 Oct GMT and I'll announce the winner on Sunday!

Just wanted to drop this here quickly.

I'm going to this thing. It should be fun and interesting and lots of the writers that I know who are going are fangirls too.

Anyway, I think there are some places left : ) xx

Queer Company 2

Reading, writing and publishing are fulfilling occupations in themselves, but we also feel very lucky to be working in this particular genre – not least because of the wonderful sense of community. To celebrate our excellent friendships – and in the hope of making even more – Manifold Press is delighted to be hosting this UK-based event.

Queer Company 2 will be a small, friendly gathering designed to engage and inspire. This one-day event is planned for Saturday 5 November 2016 at The Jam Factory in Oxford.

Everyone is welcome! The only requirement is that you love this genre we share.

Please note that registrations will close on Saturday 22 October!

Final call before I have to go ask strangers

Any New Yorkers, or 'Mericans in general, that fancy reading through 25k of original angst-driven Festive romance dealing with Spoilers/Triggers )

There's only so much you can learn from the Internet about Thanksgiving. I just know I'm fucking it up. But yes, I know I didn't mention the Macy's parade. Maybe I should put that in...?

Anyway.

This damn thing has been consuming me. I just want it to be over now.

What do you get the girl who has everything?

Why this of course!

Happy Birthday, Somer!!

This may or may not be safe for work... )
alexisjane: (a- Dean looking down)

Any New Yorkers able to help me with a little location scouting? Google Earth is being a shitbag and I may start screaming if I have to look at it's stupid face anymore. I figured maybe I should just ask you all before I start ripping my flesh from my bones : )

Slight spoilers for the Xmas story )

Also, if you fancy beta reading with a specific eye for all things big and appley, that would be lovely.

"Home Is Where You Are" is up for Book of the Month!!

You guys were so amazing at voting when I was up for Book of the Week, you all got me through to Book of the Month!

Which means I get to ask you to vote for me ALL OVER AGAIN!!

I don't hold out much hoping of topping this one as I'm up against, amongst others, Lisa Henry, who is one of my favorite writers (Discontented Winter on AO3) but it would be nice to give a shot.

So, if you have a minute and your finger feels like making a clicking motion of some kind, the page is here - Love Bytes

It's only open til Friday, and I think you can only vote once.

I know it seems silly but stuff like this really helps to get the book out there...which gives me the chance to write more books.

Thank you so much in advance!!! ♥
