I've written a short Valentine story over on RJ Scott's blog today. It's from the Alphas' Homestead series, set kinda after Book Two, I guess.
If you haven't read the books yet, it's only a little spoilery, and gives a taste of what the series is like. Also, you can win a free book!
RJ has had a whole bunch of guest posts this month so it's worth going just to check out some other authors stuff.
Anyway — Be My Valentine — clickety for adorable boys
Holy Moly! Home Is Where You Are made it through to the 2016 Book of the Year Poll on Love Bytes Reviews. Which is amazing!
It was properly gobsmacking to make it through the weekly and monthly rounds, so to see Caleb and Jacob's story up with all those other fantastic books at the end of the year is kinda crazy.
Obviously, if you would like to vote, that would be lovely. You can click Here, but mostly, I just wanted to say thank you.
Thank you to everyone who has bought, read and reviewed any of my books in 2016, thank you to everyone at Love Bytes who have been so supportive of my new venture, and thank you to everyone who voted for Home last year.
You guys are the best.
So, it was my birthday the weekend before last and I fully intended to do something lovely for my readers to celebrate. But then I ended up pretty much just enjoying my birthday and didn't get around to it. And then work happened, and then I went away for more birthday shenanigans...needless to say, no prize draw happened.
Instead, you'll just have to put up with a post-birthday-post-unbirthday extravaganza of goodies!!
Signed paperback copies of both Home Is Where You Are and Returning Home, some of the bits and pieces that I had in the UK Meet swag bag, plus bonus Curly Wurly...and maybe some other things if I can get them ready in time for posting.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Which means I get to ask you to vote for me ALL OVER AGAIN!!
I don't hold out much hoping of topping this one as I'm up against, amongst others, Lisa Henry, who is one of my favorite writers (Discontented Winter on AO3) but it would be nice to give a shot.
So, if you have a minute and your finger feels like making a clicking motion of some kind, the page is here - Love Bytes
It's only open til Friday, and I think you can only vote once.
I know it seems silly but stuff like this really helps to get the book out there...which gives me the chance to write more books.
Returning Home is live a little early! Still waiting on Amazon and D2D but AllRomance and Smashwords seem to be up, as is Payhip if you fancy 25% off.
Alternatively, I have a couple of ARCs left, so if you're quick and can leave a review at some point, you can get a free copy!
( Links and stuff )
Hoping to god this part's alright, and the formatting is okay, and the files aren't corrupted, and I replaced all the proofing errors, and that I spelled the name of the book right...*weeps*
Starting to upload Book Two today. Fingers crossed, I don't fuck it up : )
As before I'm going to be giving out 30 copies in exchange for honest reviews.
And as I like you guys best of everyone, you get first dibs...okay, the official ARC reviewers get first first dibs but still sorta first : )
Details are below.
Email me – contact[at]alexjane[dot]info – and tell me if you want epub, mobi, or PDF
I cannot send you a file unless I know what file type you want so don't forget that!
Three years after Jacob Carpenter landed on Caleb Fletcher’s doorstep, the Alpha mates return to the city they grew up in to be married.
Aside from the sheer exhaustion of traveling across the country with three children in tow, both men step foot back in New York filled with apprehension about what kind of reception they will receive from their families after abandoning their respective packs.
At first it seems they are welcomed home with open arms and much excitement about their wedding but it soon becomes clear that not everyone is so happy to see the prodigal sons return.
Indeed, Caleb finds himself wondering if Jacob will go through with the ceremony at all, or whether it would be better to pack up his mate and their children, and head back to Nebraska before the situation does irreparable damage to them both.
Sometimes you have to leave a place to realize it’s exactly where you ought to be.
Novella – 36k+
I may be a little bit nervous...just a little bit...
It's been a fairly stressful couple of weeks and I've got a couple more to go – tether...I'm at the end of it – but today...
"Home..." is up for Book of the Week on Love Bytes reviews!!!
Which is kinda crazy as I hadn't realised the review had even come out yet, let alone that it received 4.5 stars!
The top two books from this poll go through to the Book of the Month thingy at the end of the month, which would be amazing, although I'm not holding out much hope with K-Lee Klien and Kade Harper on the list : ) But regardless it's an amazing feeling to see my name next to theirs so it's cheered me up no end.
If you like to vote for "Home..." I think you can just tickety the box on this link - POLL
It might seem a silly thing but it would help me a lot in getting the book "out there" which is the hardest thing when you're self publishing.
But also, I'm SUPER EXCITED about being in a poll!!!
Thank you for voting in advance ♥ ♥ ♥
Also, I'm leaving the giveaway post up on my blog until 9pm BST tonight. So, if you fancy winning a paperback copy of "Home...", just pop over and leave a comment so I can put your name in the hat** : ) xxx
**There won't be an actual hat...just so you know : ) xx
For half an hour tonight, starting at 9pm BST (1pm EDT, 4pm PDT, I think) I'll be at Victoria Sue's release party on Facebook talking about Home Is Where You Are, werewolves, and...well, whatever you want to talk about, I guess.
I've never done one of these before but I think readers just come by and ask questions and we chat...? I don't even know. So if you have time to drop by, it would be nice to see some friendly faces : )
Also, I'll be doing a giveaway of a paperback and some other swag thingies...which may or may not be an incentive : )
Anyway. That's where I'll be. Hope you can pop by xx
That's me by the way^^^ : )
1. I'm trying to post a bit more and that's going okay, but if you missed it, there's a new comm called amilliondays, set up in response to the shit-fest that is 2016, and inspired by the 100 Days of Happiness meme that's going around. People have been cross posting their happy thoughts there, but just to be awkward, I've just been posting random things that have made me smile. I could cross post to here but...nah. Come on over and share the love yourselves!
ii Tomorrow I'm been asked to do some sort of Facebook author chat event thingy to help with someone's book launch...I've no idea what the fuck is going on as usual.
Anyway, I have to turn up and talk about stuff, and do a giveaway, apparently?
I figured that I could giveaway a paperback copy of Home Is Where You Are as they're available now with some other swag type stuff, but I have to ask a question for people to win it. I've no clue what sort of thing to ask so if y'all have any bright ideas, prompt me bitches.
I'll drop a post here tomorrow when it's on so you can pop by if the mood takes you : )
Three. I'm up for SMPC on Sunday. Any requests?
My writing mojo is weak right now so situational prompts using the J's from Sunday Maybe Monday, Gazes Into You, Stumble Forward, Dot the 'i', or Teenchesters would be lovely. Feel free to suggest anything you like. I might not use it but it might get some idea growing in my head. If there's room...otherwise it'll be manips again : )
Hope y'all are doing okay. Hang in there, peeps ♥
Okay, first off, this post has nothing to do with Penelope Pitstop. I just thought I'd make a post asking for help with something, and then her funny voice was in my head...hence the title.
Second. Googling images of Penelope Pitstop to use in this post for a little decoration was a BIG MISTAKE. Needless to say, my childhood is ruined : (
Thirdly...I just wanted to see if anyone fancied looking over my blurb for Book Four (Jebus) of the Alphas' Homestead thing. Book Two will be out soon and I wanted to put the blurb for B4 in the back, but it sounds funky to me. Not super attached to the title or the tagline...or any of it, frankly.
( Bad Blurb Beneath... )
Also, I've tweaked the cover for Book Two...it now has 150% more nipple...which I hate but hopefully you will like.
Tweaked. Nipple. See what I did there. (That wasn't even on purpose : )
Okey Dokey! Definitely time for a cup of tea if I'm accidentally punning. Love your faces ♥
35k of angst, angst, angst and werewolves...and angst in three chapters
Each chapter comes individually with about ten questions for you to give your first impressions of the story. I need to know stuff like – is it boring, which bits need expanding, which lines should I keep at all costs, is anything confusing, did you spot any continuity errors, what did you like/dislike/want more of – no proofing or anything, just readability and sense. If you'd like to go into the word doc and comment as you read that would be brilliant but not obligatory. I'd like this to be fun for you, not a chore.
If you would like to help/get a sneak peak, and you can get the chapters back to me a week tomorrow, comment/pm/email me. I need about five people ideally.
Did I mention there was angst?
I had to do some social things today, which was knackering so I'll away to my bed soon, and I'm going to give myself tomorrow to do stuff like do the dishes, and vacuum, and perhaps even order dog food and pick up my asthma meds...y'know, the stuff that seems unimportant when your brain is consumed with the big questions like, did they eat kedgeree in New York in 1874.
I have a bunch of messages to answer and comments to reply to which I'll make a start on tomorrow but it might take me til Friday to get down to them all, as I have a beta to do and an arc review to get on with, which get priority as both those people have waited far too long already.
In other news...my dog is still awesome...my Wayward AF teeshirt came...you guys have been super kind about my bb...I walked the dog with my flies open this evening...
Also, All Romance Books are having a sale thing, 50% off with a rebate thingy, so you can pick up loads of m/m books half price including Home... for $1.75. Clickety the picture to go there.
*coughs*also grab anything by Jordan L Hawke or Charlie Cochrane*coughs*
Oh, and Happy Fourth of July, 'Mercans! I wanted to find the clip of the Glowworm in James and the Giant Peach when they land in New York and she calls out "God Bless the colonies!" coz it's hilarious but I got nothing on YouTube. So, instead have this gorgeous version of the SSB.
Love your faces xxx
I made a Goodreads page and it should be up on Amazon by the end of the week.
Please don't feel you have to be nice. Anything over three stars will make my day : )
( Blurb )
*Yes, that's deliberate. I can't help myself. Too much Morecambe and Wise in my youth.
Okay...so the proofreader just sent back the changes to my m/s...688 commas in the wrong place...apparently I like a run-on sentence *points at self* Who? Me?
Anyway. It's late but I'm going to crack on and get the changes done tonight –– which means tomorrow, instead of doing my tax return, I will be attempting to make epub, mobi and PDF versions of the file.
What would be great is if
First come, first served.
Don't worry if someone gets there before you and you want a free copy. Once this is done I will be doing a post about free copies in exchange for an honest review. I just need to get my head around this bit first.
Oh god, this is really scary! Who the fuck said this was a good idea?
Love your faces : ) xx
