Someone on a bullet journal comm mentioned this like it was no big deal...

Anyone fancy walking to Mordor? *waits for the Bean reply*

The Eowyn Challenge has a walking challenge, whereby the miles you walk in rl can be tracked to correspond with Frodo's journey in LoTR. Or Bilbo's.
It's so cool! If you can measure the distance you walk, you can see where you would be in the story and I'm geeking so hard right now...

I worked out that since January 1st I've walked 149 miles (I walk about 5 miles a day with Lily) so I'm two days out from Bree heading east towards Chetwood. How cool is that! I'm hoping to get to Rivendell by the end of April.

You can find the challenge here - The Eowyn Challenge
I think there are check-ins and whatnot but anyway...

Oh, and if you want to measure how far you walk, this thing is awesome. Also free.

...I don't get my new glasses 'til Thursday but I've built it up in my head that the new prescription lenses are going to be life changing. Bye-bye headaches, and weird vision. Bye-bye only being able to draw for ten minutes at a time, and not being able to see out of my right eye by the end of the day. Goodbye to all that, and hello to typing for hours, drawing all day, and not feeling like my head is going to explode.

I may have built it up a bit too much, but only two more sleeps!

In other news...I went to a writers meet-up thing in London on Saturday. It was fun and interesting and a little overwhelming but I talked to people, and didn't flail or fangirl too badly. Anyway, one of the things we talked about was newsletters. So, yesterday I made one...well, I set the means by which to send them out. I was thinking that I could send one once a month, just recapping some of my blog posts, doing giveaways when I have something to giveaway, or adding excerpts or free chapters of stuff. IDK I figured it was worth a try, see if people like it or not. LJ won't let me put the form on here but you can sign up for it at the bottom of the page here.

I'm kinda excited about it as I'm using Mailerlite to make the newsletters, which is such fun to use! I spent all day yesterday geeking out over it when I should have been doing other writing. I can thoroughly recommend it. Especially for procrastinating : )

Miss your faces! xxx

...I was just thinking about The Mousetrap, y'know the Agatha Christie play that's been running in the West End since the Norman Invasion. I went a few years ago and it was fab, except for the lingering worry that I spoiled the ending for the woman sitting behind me, by wildly throwing out theories during the interval, only to have one of them be right : /

At the end of the play, the audience is sworn to secrecy about the story, and it's so good I can't imagine why anyone would give it away...but then I was thinking...

If you wrote something that was basically The Mousetrap, do you think would they even bother to sue you for plagerism, as doing so would reveal the plot of the play that's been running on secrecy for more than 60 years?

Asking for a friend.

This Alpha Male thing is so stupid but OH GOD I WANT A J2 FINAL SO BAD!!!

Anyway, my dreams are slipping away... Jensen is tied 50/50 with some guy I've never heard of, and Jared...well, his numbers are creeping up but...really? Where the Sam girls at? Come on now.

Admittedly, if one of our boys don't get it, at least there's Amell but still...

Anyway, it's up to you now 'Merica and Australasia. Europe is off to beddybyes. Poll ends 5pm PT so get your clickety fingers going and let's at least try to get a SPN final for our Ten Year Anniversary.

Remember mobile devices don't register!

Clickety like you mean it!

Going out to lunch with my kids for the first time in ages. My skin looks like I've been soaked in vinegar and then grated. Marvellous.

...things could be worse : ) x

30th Dec: astarloa - A scene from a book or film that's stuck with you - for good or for bad.

Oooo, I knew this one straight away : )

Excerpt from chapter 38 of "The Stand" by Stephen King. Warning under the cut )

No fuss, no muss, no fancy words or clever talk. Just pure unadulterated storytelling that's haunted me for the last 25 years. Just perfect x

Digital Painting
Photoshop with standard brushes.

So I had a day off...which apparently involves me drawing for two hours, painting in Ps for three and then editing the video of me painting for another three. Mmmm, relaxing : )

A couple of people mentioned speed videos, so I did that. If it's interesting, I shall do some more : )

Also, three guesses who I'm blaming for this ...♥
Shocker : ) )

Having a very slight OTP crisis.

Long story short...I'm reading two WIPs right now, the wonderful Wrapped in Honey by [ profile] lady_emebalia which is like crack! About the only diligent thing I'm doing right now is checking my timeline for the next instalment! Incubus!Sam and captive!'s just lovely.

But then I'm also reading Occam's Razor by [ profile] miss_annthropic. It's...well, it's not spn : /

I don't want to break up, it's just... )

Things I have learnt whilst not having the internets

I cannot look up the number of the service that can come fix my router...because my router is broken.
I don't know what circle of hell that is but oh my god, my brain nearly shortcircuited.

My 3G phone does not get 3G in the house...

I cannot watch TV...
or listen to music...
or use my printer (fuck knows where that cable is)...

I cannot check the weather to see if it's safe to walk the dog without getting drenched...
I cannot fact check anything if I want to write some fic...
I cannot source photos to do artwork...
My DVD collection seems to consisted almost entirely of Japanese horror, Gerald Bulter and RDJ...

It was basically me and the (wet) dog sitting in a room for 3 days, feeling like the rest of the universe had evaporated.

I didn't like it.

I also learnt that when the new router arrives, the sticker that says "Takes 20 minutes to set up the best communication" really doesn't take into account how motivated a fangirl can be if she knows there's a season opener waiting out there in the ether : )
90 seconds, bitches!

I know it was only a few days but I MISSED YOU GUYS!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

I watched the ep in a rush coz OMG I needed it but....
what passes for a 10.01 reaction )

I'm gonna watch it again later when there's no screenglare and my brain is actually working, I'm sure there's more intelligent stuff to be said. I'm also sticking to the rule from last season and not reading any reaction posts. It only takes one comment for me to lose my mind so in the spirit of happiness, best not : )

It's so nice to be home : ) xx
alexisjane: (a - alec flicking popcorn)
If this is true, and given that Robbie Thompson is writing it I can imagine it is, then the show runners can just go fuck themselves.

Can't think of anything worse right now.

Spoilers for 10.5... )

It might be fine. It might be hilarious. Not holding my fucking breath though. Praying its a hoax.

Not happy x

Oh Lordy...

GISHERS! We did it! Are you all in one piece? I feel totally destroyed, bemused and kinda grossed out at how much housework I'm going to have to do after leaving everything this week. My kitchen is disgusting.

Over at [ profile] spn_bunker, we're kinda celebrating as it was our team's first year and we're feeling pretty pleased that we managed to get so many things done. Anyway [ profile] brightly_lit posted these questions as a yeah. That. Or rather this...

What was the worst part? The clothespins. Definitely the clothespins. )

God help me, I promised myself I'd do this...I might just do it really small : ) x
