If you fancy a snippet from Alphas' Homestead Book Three, you're in luck! There's one on the blog post about Love Your Pet Day...which may or may not feature pictures of my dog ♥ x

That thing where you're tracking your word count and you feel stupid having to put down "14" for your day total but then you know those words were damn good. That.

Me answering emails.

I have news and stuff but right now there's a dog on me so it's hard to type : ) so...x

alexisjane: (a- oh abbadon)
The dog that has been staying went home today. Usually Lily is relieved, but this time she's pining for him.

I, however, am relieved. Very fudging relieved.

I've got a week to finish this damn book. I'm behind, and feel like I'm flagging badly but I think I can do it. Only 20k to go. *cries*

Anyway...love your faces...esp if they're anything like this : ) xxx

alexisjane: (a - really?)
Lily has an ulcer on her eyeball.

I just can't right now.

It wouldn't be quite so bad but I have a dentist appointment now and a doctors appointment this afternoon and literally no one that I can leave her with.

She's in pain and can't see and I'm going to have to leave her alone for two hours.

Id ask for a break but being that I managed to borrow some money so I can pay for her treatment, I think I've had all the breaks I'm getting.

Fuck it all.

Today I am officially "feeling better". I was poorly sick... )

The most interesting thing though...and this is a dog-related question if there are any veterinary folk out there...is how come Lily now has a cold?

I've been assured that the transmission of dieases between dogs and people only works one way, but I swear to God, this is the second time that I have had this cold/throat infection/fever thing and then just as I was getting better, Lily gets it! This morning I woke up and she's coughing, snot coming out of her nose, she's lethargic, won't eat, and is desperately clingy. We're seeing the vet later just to rule out kennel cough but omg she so has my cold! Either that or she coming out in sympathy. Poor baby.

Anyway, normal service probably won't resume for a few days, as I have work and stuff to catch up on, but yay for feeling better! : )

Miss your faces : ) xxxx
alexisjane: (J2 - So Cute!)
Spent three hours cuddling dogs taking photos at the RSPCA this morning. It was definitely adorable, there were a couple of heartrending moments but I thought I did quite well to come home without a puppy up my jumper. I was, however, stinking and had to jump straight in the shower. Luckily the bus driver didn't kick me off for smelling of dog pee : /

Got fourteen dogs to draw now...and then I get to go back again! \0/

Also, I don't really do favourites but this guy...

...this guy was hilarious and sweet. Milo, 10 months old, removed from an unsuitable home (read - great big head, skinny body like a whippet. poor baby) I took him out for a walk and he was so well behaved for his age and was such fun. Didn't feel like my dog but he's going to make someone a great friend : )

First thing I do when I wake up in the morning is check my weather app to see what's occuring meterologically so I know how many layers I need to put on to walk the dog.

Last week, I was horrified to see "Heavy Snow" but figured we should head out anyway as Lily loves the snow, sniffing and sneezing and staring at it like it's a magic trick.

However, it became clear that the weather app has never ventured outside South East England.

Heavy snow?...riiiiight. )

Anyway, hoping and praying that everyone in the path of the snowpocolypse is staying safe and warm and connected to the internet xxx

My dog can see me in a mirror.

She definitely can. In our last place, she'd sit and watch my reflection in the hall mirror when I was brushing my teeth every night, even though she could have easily come around the corner to sit with me. She makes eye contact and tilts her head when I/the reflection talks.

But then she never ever reacts to her own reflection. She must be able to see it but she never acknowledges it. That's weird, right? What does she think it is? I'm pretty sure only elephants and dolphins recognise themselves in a mirror, monkeys can learn to do it, I think maybe crows too (coz they are as smart as monkeys) but she surely can't know that the dog in the mirror is her, right? But she knows my reflection is me...but she's not freaked out about there being another dog...

This is the kinda thing I worry about.

And I'm not even high.

I think it's probably time for bed x

31st Dec: [livejournal.com profile] big_heart_june - got any special plans?

Well, last year I had the best time because I spent it with you all! There was booze and silliness and it was just wonderful being with everyone despite that we were all in different timezones, so that was lovely.

I've always kinda hate New Year (it make me maudlin also see video) but I have to say here, wandering down to the beach at midnight, with everyone wrapped up warm, sitting around campfires or wandering about wishing each other Happy New Year, and then setting off fireworks at midnight, that you can see happening for miles around the coastline...that's really nice. Not dog-friendly so I've had to pass the last three years but, yeah, really nice.

This year though I fear I maybe boozeless, plus feeling super tired all the time right now so my plan is to stay up as long as I can but I expect I shall lame it and fall asleep far too soon.

But hey : ) xx

alexisjane: (a- like working with children)
I take back everything I said about my dog yesterday.

The muthafucker ate chocolate AGAIN!!!

Thankfully not as much or anything like as strong as last time but she definitely has a tummy ache. Or is drunk. I think there was booze in them.

Looking forward to a long night of toilet emergencies and vomiting.

ETA; I fed her a huge amount of biscuits, she drank loads of water, spent the evening making "I'm so sick, mama, do something" faces but seems fine this morning. She got up to drink a lot of water in the night so I think that probably did the trick. Stupid dog x

6th Dec: laurathelurker - Are you a pet person, how many have you had over the years and which was your favorite?

I'm a dog person, I think rather than a pet person.
Fluffies : ) )

I don't know what we ate but Lily and I have a tummy ache today so we've been sitting around watching Teen Wolf under a blanket. She finally ate something at 5pm so she must be feeling better. I feel like I wanna do stuff but I have the indigestion from hell...so I'm just going to stay here.

I did however just want to leave you guys this, as when I opened my tumblr it was just right there and oh god, how I squeed : ) Hope y'all had a lovely weekend : ) xx

Sterek all the way... )

If you didn't know already, there is a fanauction to help [livejournal.com profile] cillab42. She and her dogs really really need our help and pretty quickly too so if you can help in any way please do.

Please go here: Fanwork Auction

*****I am offering fic here and art here. *****

I really want to contribute but have zero funds right now, so please place a bid, no matter how small. I really couldn't bear the thought of Cillab having to put her dogs in a shelter, especially just before the festive season.

I'm not putting it on the comm but if you want podfic instead of fic, just buy now in the fic offer. Just for friends : ) Coz you guys are the bestest : )

Also, I was reminded of this clip earlier. I know the boys have talked about how they first met at the audition but in my head, I kinda see it being a little more like this.

Adorable J2 this way!!

Hope y'all have a lovely weekend ♥ xx

cillab42 has posted about her situation on her LJ. You can help raise funds for her by making a direct donation here, participating in the auction, and/or spreading the word among your friends.

The auction will start today, November 20, and run until November 29 (next Saturday). The last date for the auction is not the date by which you need to deliver your work. It's just the last date for people to bid on offers. You can talk to your winner and decide on the details/due date.

If you're unsure about how a fanworks auction works, please check out the previous post at this community to see how the last auction was held.

Do feel free to promote this auction on LJ and elsewhere

Please go here: Fanwork Auction

On Writing

alexisjane: (Jensen coffee)
I didn't do a Tuesday yesterday because of the fun but gratuitous art deadlines, and dogs believing I've left them for dead and therefore eating all kinds of nasty out of the garbage even though I was gone about five minutes and now are sick and need to poop every hour reasons.

Ep.thought on the ep...cut for spoilers not length : ) )

Anyway, mainly I just wanted to get this out. Been discussing ideas for stories with [livejournal.com profile] deansdirtybb and I was reminded of this portion - swiped and cropped for your reading pleasure - from Stephen King's On Writing. If you haven't read it/don't own it, you should. I thought it was just me but every recommended list and article on being a better writer I've read, leads with this as it's primary recommendation. Plus, it's King, so it's down to earth and a pleasure to read.

From On Writing, Ch5 I think...cherry picked bits at least )

I also saw an interview with him (which I can't find although it might be in the lecture below, come to think of it) where he was talking about stopping his car on a back road somewhere (for gas maybe) and there being a river nearby, wandering over and looking down into the water and thinking "What would happen if I fell in right now? No one knows I'm here. There's no one around to see it. My body would be carried away. I'd just disappear." Or words to that effect.

Anyway, these two things really stuck with me and this is what my brain does now. Everything is a What If... to me. Plus, you throw in J2 and God Dammit my brain just won't shut up. Luckily, he also had this advice too : )

You can watch his whole lecture here, if you're interested. It's about an hour long.

Anyway, I don't even now if that's interesting, or whatever but, yeah...
