alexisjane: (Writing)

I have rewritten Gazes Into You.

I always intended to publish this as an original fic... although I wasn't expecting on getting it out quite so soon.
I'm just waiting for it to get back from the editor and then I'll put it up on Amazon, etc. So, two weeks?

What this does mean though is that I'm going to be TAKING DOWN the J2 version. So, if you want to download that from AO3, do it soon.

Just so's you know, I am happy for the J2 version to be shared between y'all in the future. I just can't have it online with the official version available.

As always, I'll be giving out a bunch of ARCs (Advanced Review Copies) once I've formatted the files, so if you want to get one of those, just let me know. And I do a ton of giveaways and free promo stuff on a regular basis so if you don't want to pay cash money for this, there will be an opportunity to get your hands on it gratis in the future. All I ask is a quick review or rating on Goodreads or Amazon. Doesn't even have to be a positive one : ) No, really...it all about the algorithm...or something.

I have no idea what I'm doing...
Anyway.

I got four more planned in this series, so I'm hoping people like this one. I mean, creepy stalker ex-cop getting all hurt/comfort sexytimes with a *coughs*Stockholm Syndrome*coughs* much younger stranger... what's not to like!? : )

************

Ex-detective John Right likes to watch.
There's no harm in it.

The latest object of his obsession—a twenty-something stranger who chains his bike outside John's office—doesn't feel the weight of John's eyes on him, doesn't know about the secret recordings or what John does with them in the dead of night. Except when the kid disappears, John finds himself doing far more that just watching.
Reluctantly, John has to start thinking like a cop once more as he frantically tries to track down his mystery man. Although when he finds him, John is left with more questions than answers. And the more he learns, the more he wishes he'd never started looking in the first place.
Can John get to the bottom of the mystery without giving away his own dirty secret? And without giving in to his urge to do more than simply watch?

Well...nobody's perfect.

For anyone who's interested...

I've written a short Valentine story over on RJ Scott's blog today. It's from the Alphas' Homestead series, set kinda after Book Two, I guess.

If you haven't read the books yet, it's only a little spoilery, and gives a taste of what the series is like. Also, you can win a free book!

RJ has had a whole bunch of guest posts this month so it's worth going just to check out some other authors stuff.

Anyway — Be My Valentine — clickety for adorable boys

Chaps. I'm going to be here, doing this thing. If you want to come...do that. There'll be books, and wine...probably.
God, there better be wine.
Anyway.
This.

I'm in bed but was gonna do this real quick. Self recs.

I was going to put my Xmas Fic I wrote for meus venator - http://alexisjane.livejournal.com/285361.html - coz I really like these guys...but then the challenge is to rec three things!

I've been thinking about Sunday, Maybe Monday a lot - http://alexisjane.livejournal.com/271063.html - probably going to work on it some more, turn it into a full length story. I miss those boys.

And I know it's not technically fannish but I made this pic for my Daniel and Elliott story and I just really love it! - http://alexisjane.livejournal.com/256701.html - I can't use it for promo as I don't have the images rights but oh my heart...I really wish I did : )

Anyway. Sleep now. More tomorrow Xxx
alexisjane: (J2 - Festive)

Looking to get some reviews on Amazon (US and UK) and Goodreads for 'Tis the Season. I have 28 copies to give away.
27k - 81 pages - festive romance - second chances - contemporary

So far the feedback has been great, but books live and die with reviews--and I'm talking quantity not quality very often. Give me a three-star, one word review on anything I write and I'll be a very happy bunny--and right now this is dying (poor little book) So I'm on a review drive!

Blurb and whatnot... )

Any New Yorkers able to help me with a little location scouting? Google Earth is being a shitbag and I may start screaming if I have to look at it's stupid face anymore. I figured maybe I should just ask you all before I start ripping my flesh from my bones : )

Slight spoilers for the Xmas story )

Also, if you fancy beta reading with a specific eye for all things big and appley, that would be lovely.

"Home Is Where You Are" is up for Book of the Month!!

You guys were so amazing at voting when I was up for Book of the Week, you all got me through to Book of the Month!

Which means I get to ask you to vote for me ALL OVER AGAIN!!

I don't hold out much hoping of topping this one as I'm up against, amongst others, Lisa Henry, who is one of my favorite writers (Discontented Winter on AO3) but it would be nice to give a shot.

So, if you have a minute and your finger feels like making a clicking motion of some kind, the page is here - Love Bytes

It's only open til Friday, and I think you can only vote once.

I know it seems silly but stuff like this really helps to get the book out there...which gives me the chance to write more books.

Thank you so much in advance!!! ♥

Chaps. I was up all night doing this...Chuck knows why...but now there are free PDF and mobi downloads of Something Beginning with "V" on my website. Coz formatting e-books is just my favourite thing in the world right now.   *coughs*procrastinating*coughs*

I'd tried to get the epub to work but the plugin was having none of it. I'll keep trying to fix that when I have a minute but in the meantime, if you want one, just email me and I'll send it over.

Anyway. Mad-panic month is nearly over! Just got to prep for UK Meet at the weekend...then actually get there and do the thing...then I'm free and clear 'til the New Year and beyond!! Cannot wait to get back to writing!

Hope you all are doing okay. Seriously miss your faces ♥

I think the fan in my iMac is busted. It's been getting scary hot and I suddenly realized that I can't hear anything like a fan going on with it. I'm guessing it's full of dog hair. Which means I'm going to have to send it away for repairs. I feel like I might die if it leaves this room...

Anyway...this happened...

Returning Home is live a little early! Still waiting on Amazon and D2D but AllRomance and Smashwords seem to be up, as is Payhip if you fancy 25% off.

Alternatively, I have a couple of ARCs left, so if you're quick and can leave a review at some point, you can get a free copy!

Links and stuff )

Hoping to god this part's alright, and the formatting is okay, and the files aren't corrupted, and I replaced all the proofing errors, and that I spelled the name of the book right...*weeps*

Starting to upload Book Two today. Fingers crossed, I don't fuck it up : )

As before I'm going to be giving out 30 copies in exchange for honest reviews.
And as I like you guys best of everyone, you get first dibs...okay, the official ARC reviewers get first first dibs but still sorta first : )
Details are below.
Email me – contact[at]alexjane[dot]info – and tell me if you want epub, mobi, or PDF
I cannot send you a file unless I know what file type you want so don't forget that!

Returning Home

Three years after Jacob Carpenter landed on Caleb Fletcher’s doorstep, the Alpha mates return to the city they grew up in to be married.

Aside from the sheer exhaustion of traveling across the country with three children in tow, both men step foot back in New York filled with apprehension about what kind of reception they will receive from their families after abandoning their respective packs.

At first it seems they are welcomed home with open arms and much excitement about their wedding but it soon becomes clear that not everyone is so happy to see the prodigal sons return.

Indeed, Caleb finds himself wondering if Jacob will go through with the ceremony at all, or whether it would be better to pack up his mate and their children, and head back to Nebraska before the situation does irreparable damage to them both.

Sometimes you have to leave a place to realize it’s exactly where you ought to be.

…..

Novella – 36k+
Warnings – angst, family discord, angst...bit more angst. Maybe even a bit more than that. Sexytimes. HEA.

I may be a little bit nervous...just a little bit...

Just wanted to leave a quick note to say thanks so much to everyone who came to the release party thingy last night. It ended up being loads of fun! : )

Also, I'm leaving the giveaway post up on my blog until 9pm BST tonight. So, if you fancy winning a paperback copy of "Home...", just pop over and leave a comment so I can put your name in the hat** : ) xxx
Clickety

**There won't be an actual hat...just so you know : ) xx
alexisjane: (a- horrified)

Okay, first off, this post has nothing to do with Penelope Pitstop. I just thought I'd make a post asking for help with something, and then her funny voice was in my head...hence the title.

Second. Googling images of Penelope Pitstop to use in this post for a little decoration was a BIG MISTAKE. Needless to say, my childhood is ruined : (

Thirdly...I just wanted to see if anyone fancied looking over my blurb for Book Four (Jebus) of the Alphas' Homestead thing. Book Two will be out soon and I wanted to put the blurb for B4 in the back, but it sounds funky to me. Not super attached to the title or the tagline...or any of it, frankly.

Bad Blurb Beneath... )

Also, I've tweaked the cover for Book Two...it now has 150% more nipple...which I hate but hopefully you will like.

Tweaked. Nipple. See what I did there. (That wasn't even on purpose : )

Okey Dokey! Definitely time for a cup of tea if I'm accidentally punning. Love your faces ♥

This morning I finished the first draft of Returning Home. It's a week over schedule and 35k when I was aiming for 20k but it's done.

I had to do some social things today, which was knackering so I'll away to my bed soon, and I'm going to give myself tomorrow to do stuff like do the dishes, and vacuum, and perhaps even order dog food and pick up my asthma meds...y'know, the stuff that seems unimportant when your brain is consumed with the big questions like, did they eat kedgeree in New York in 1874.

I have a bunch of messages to answer and comments to reply to which I'll make a start on tomorrow but it might take me til Friday to get down to them all, as I have a beta to do and an arc review to get on with, which get priority as both those people have waited far too long already.

In other news...my dog is still awesome...my Wayward AF teeshirt came...you guys have been super kind about my bb...I walked the dog with my flies open this evening...

Also, All Romance Books are having a sale thing, 50% off with a rebate thingy, so you can pick up loads of m/m books half price including Home... for $1.75. Clickety the picture to go there.

*coughs*also grab anything by Jordan L Hawke or Charlie Cochrane*coughs*

Oh, and Happy Fourth of July, 'Mercans! I wanted to find the clip of the Glowworm in James and the Giant Peach when they land in New York and she calls out "God Bless the colonies!" coz it's hilarious but I got nothing on YouTube. So, instead have this gorgeous version of the SSB.

Love your faces xxx

Yesterday was long. So long it didn't finish until the early hours of this morning. There were many tears of frustration and panic but I'm almost done. Just waiting for Createspace to do its thing and then I can get back to the fun stuff : )

But right now, I'm led out with the dog, feeling like a wet noodle and trying to will myself to go get something decent to eat. Except I just have to listen to this song one more time.

Perfect song, perfect video, perfect cutie. Perfect.

Maybe just more listen : ) xxx

...I don't get my new glasses 'til Thursday but I've built it up in my head that the new prescription lenses are going to be life changing. Bye-bye headaches, and weird vision. Bye-bye only being able to draw for ten minutes at a time, and not being able to see out of my right eye by the end of the day. Goodbye to all that, and hello to typing for hours, drawing all day, and not feeling like my head is going to explode.

I may have built it up a bit too much, but only two more sleeps!

In other news...I went to a writers meet-up thing in London on Saturday. It was fun and interesting and a little overwhelming but I talked to people, and didn't flail or fangirl too badly. Anyway, one of the things we talked about was newsletters. So, yesterday I made one...well, I set the means by which to send them out. I was thinking that I could send one once a month, just recapping some of my blog posts, doing giveaways when I have something to giveaway, or adding excerpts or free chapters of stuff. IDK I figured it was worth a try, see if people like it or not. LJ won't let me put the form on here but you can sign up for it at the bottom of the page here.

I'm kinda excited about it as I'm using Mailerlite to make the newsletters, which is such fun to use! I spent all day yesterday geeking out over it when I should have been doing other things...like writing. I can thoroughly recommend it. Especially for procrastinating : )

Miss your faces! xxx
