Hell yes! Watching your guys doing the Haka was always the highlight of any rugby tournament when I HAD to watch them (my ex was a huge rugby fan). It always made me laugh when our team stood there half-heartedly singing our dirge of a national anthem and then the Haka happened! Terrifying!
*GRINS* Terrifying is definitely what you want when you're about to rumble for a ball and run full-tit down a massive field and throw yourself over a white line to score points, lol.
You should check out the llink wings sent me below of the All Blacks doing different ones...just amazing. Always loved it and him doing it like that is just fab! x
The vid in the link shows our national rugby team the "All Blacks" performing the haka to the Australian "Wallabies" (our mortal sporting enemies :) Every time I see it done I get shivers down my spine.
But now, thanks to Jason, I have soaked panties to go with the shivers, lol!
I loooooove the Haka! When I was a kid the rugby was always on at the weekend (grew up in wales so...) and was always so excited when it was the All Blacks coz I thought the Haka was just the coolest thing I'd ever seen! And I'm sure in the 70's/early 80's there was a guy who had the most scary perfect face with the tongue out and everything : ) Thanks so much for the link! I love the one against Tonga where Tonga was doing their own thing back! That was incredible! The atmosphere must have been insane! : ) xx
Here too! Obviously, lol! :D Rugby every weekend, popcorn, bbq for dinner, and the adults screaming at the TV. There definitely was, though I can't for the life of me think what his name is - I'll do some searching later and let you know if I find anything. :)
The Tonga vs AB's one was awesome! You should've seen the place when we hosted the world cup :D
Sat in the living room with the curtains closed, bouncing on the sofa and screaming at the TV, with the smells of the roast dinner wafting through from the kitchen : ) I never really got football and cricket bores the pants off me but rugby and baseball, I like : ) I have to say, growing up on rugby, the first time I saw an American Football match...I laughed my ass off! Bless them, all padded up like that, and then having to have a bit of a lie down every fifteen minutes...just hilarious!!
There was a definite thing too that if Wales weren't playing, we'd be rooting for you guys : ) xx
By "football" you mean Soccer? And I'm with you on cricket, OMG! sooooo boring! Even the one-day matches O.O
Hee! Yep, there's a scene in SGA where McKay (Canadian) is hassling Sheppard (American) about how Rugby's better than Football because we don't wear pads and our fields are bigger :D American Football makes no sense to me either. I love Rugby, Basketball, Netball (The Silver Ferns ROCK!), but I confess I'm a petrolhead, so my favourite after Rugby would be V8 Supercars :D I do like the look of Ice Hockey though.
*fistbump* or *high five* whichever works for you :) I confess, if we weren't playing and Aussie was, we'd cheer for their opposition - anyone, as long as Aussie didn't win, lol! (Nothing much has changed on that score).
Ah, motorsports. *sighs* My ex is a huge F1 fan and I really got into it when we were together. Kimi Raikkonen, anyone...*swoons* And Rally too...aaallll the Fins, and Sebastian Loeb just pummelling everyone is just so funny! : ) NASCAR not so much as *whispers* they don't even have to steer...wtf? Did quite enjoy the British Touring Cars...haven't really seen much Supercars stuff though. But yeah, don't watch any now as no TV. I'm kinda curious about Ice Hockey too, mainly as there's so much slashfic about it!
I always wondered, do you guys play Aussie rules football? And do you call it something else if you do? : ) x
Here's a vid for you, the best part is from the beginning until 1.40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAFRS5r2g8E wtf? They don't steer in NASCAR? I think I'll stick to my supercars :) I've read few of the hockey slash but only J2 of course, and I've only seen hockey in movies so really I've got no clue what's what, lol.
No, Aussie Rules is exactly that, played only in Aussie where it's huge.
Sure gets the adrenalin pumping! :D So cuuute and then he forgets and swears on camera, lol.
Supercars is done on city streets, they close off areas and the whole population gets involved. When they visit Aussie there's a place called Bathurst that's a professional track but it's on the side of a mountain and the race is 8 hours long. Admittedly for that one I tend to be in and out of the room.
Oh that's so cool! There's no street racing that I know of here. Our streets aren't really designed for it. 8 hours sounds like a bitch! I'm assuming they tag team the drivers for that one...x
When they were in Wellington, I tripped down to stay with my BB and got to go up in a chopper which followed the cars around the course. The echo of the V8's through the buildings thrilled your bones! :D
Yep, two drivers to a team, which always adds to the drama when they change over and get back out on the track, lol.
That's the kind of stuff I like, the change overs, tyre choice, refueling times...I'm such a geek...but I think it's the tactical stuff that makes it a real team sport : ) x
