IT'S THE WEEKEND!!

Starting this week, I'm giving myself the weekends off (except for Sunday promo, obviously) because for the last few months I've been working every day and I'm genuinely worried I'm going to burn out.

So, this weekend, I'm doing a meme!! ...well...[livejournal.com profile] milly_gal said I should do the meme, so I'm doing the meme : )

THIS IS THE MEME!!
(can you tell I have wine?)

Send in a character (or ship, I guess. Sam/Dean, J2, Sterek, my original fic) and a number from this list and I will write a headcanon based on the word.

Get your prompts here <3 xx )

That's me by the way^^^ : )

Three things!

1. I'm trying to post a bit more and that's going okay, but if you missed it, there's a new comm called [livejournal.com profile] amilliondays, set up in response to the shit-fest that is 2016, and inspired by the 100 Days of Happiness meme that's going around. People have been cross posting their happy thoughts there, but just to be awkward, I've just been posting random things that have made me smile. I could cross post to here but...nah. Come on over and share the love yourselves!

ii Tomorrow I'm been asked to do some sort of Facebook author chat event thingy to help with someone's book launch...I've no idea what the fuck is going on as usual.
Anyway, I have to turn up and talk about stuff, and do a giveaway, apparently?
I figured that I could giveaway a paperback copy of Home Is Where You Are as they're available now with some other swag type stuff, but I have to ask a question for people to win it. I've no clue what sort of thing to ask so if y'all have any bright ideas, prompt me bitches.
I'll drop a post here tomorrow when it's on so you can pop by if the mood takes you : )

Three. I'm up for SMPC on Sunday. Any requests?

My writing mojo is weak right now so situational prompts using the J's from Sunday Maybe Monday, Gazes Into You, Stumble Forward, Dot the 'i', or Teenchesters would be lovely. Feel free to suggest anything you like. I might not use it but it might get some idea growing in my head. If there's room...otherwise it'll be manips again : )

Hope y'all are doing okay. Hang in there, peeps ♥

I saw this on FB and omg if it isn't the perfect song for Stumble Forward! Esp the bit when Jensen gets the letter and races to Jared's house! Ugh! Just perfect. Or at least I think so. I'll leave the final verdict to [livejournal.com profile] milly_gal and [livejournal.com profile] roxymissrose coz they know the story even better than I do : )

Anyway...x

alexisjane: (a- huh?)
I really need to get started on my BB but unlike previous years, I haven't had anything specific in mind that I want to write. I have a few ideas, all things that need writing, but which to write!!

So as usual when I'm in a jam, I'm gonna let my better half make the decision...my better half being all y'all : )

So...

[Poll #2039234]

These all need to be done at some point, so click away. I'm reluctant to include "Sequel to Space Alpacas" as I don't have an idea for that but yeah, I guess that's on the table too : ) xx

You guys are so sweet! Thank you so much for all the lovely comments on my fic this morning, and for the recs! I almost never get recced but today I got two! I'm a little bit overwhelmed.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you, and I'm glad your enjoying the story. Have some kisses to show my appreciation ♥ You guys are the best : ) xxx

alexisjane: (a- oh abbadon)
The dog that has been staying went home today. Usually Lily is relieved, but this time she's pining for him.

I, however, am relieved. Very fudging relieved.

I've got a week to finish this damn book. I'm behind, and feel like I'm flagging badly but I think I can do it. Only 20k to go. *cries*

Anyway...love your faces...esp if they're anything like this : ) xxx

alexisjane: (a- Hmmmm)

Posted my snippet for this weekend on my blog thingy here. It's from chapter 2 of Little Werewolf House**

Was thinking whether anyone might be interested in participating in a fandom version of this? Maybe if we ask nice, the ladies at [livejournal.com profile] spn_bunker might be interested in hosting it? Maybe? xx

** Please God, if you have any suggestions for a proper name, I'm eager to hear them. So far all I have is 'The Cabin' *yawn* xx

Question

So, I'm doing the cover letter thing for the New Writers' Scheme thing, and I have to say what genre Stumble Forward falls into.

M/M Romance doesn't seem quite right to me. Yes, it's technically that but given the level of angst and heartbreak, do you think that I should say it's M/M Romantic Drama...or some other kind of thing?

And yes, I am overthinking this. How can you tell? : )

I have no idea what I'm doing : ( xx

ETA I will shut up about this eventually, I promise xx
alexisjane: (jay - smile)
OMG, somebody posted this on Facebook and it's hilarious!!!

I don't know how long it goes on for but I've been reading it all morning. My stomach hurts from laughing. It's so funny.

During our conversation yesterday, when Milly and I talked about...well, everything actually...I remembered this article by Edmond Manning, and thought I'd share it.

In the small time that I've been edging my face into the world of mm writers, the most astounding cases of catfishing you can imagine have been going on. Like...mind-boggling deception, and I don't just mean revelations of women using male pen names, but whole world building and casts of characters over years. It's quite something.

Anyway, lots has been written on it, but this post I thought was particularly good. Also written by a really great writer. Who's very funny. And clever...and kinda cute *blushes* Don't tell him I said that.

BUT, the point is that it made me feel able to put our own recent incident of deceit behind me finally. And feel a little bit more prepared for when it happens the next time. Because there will be a next time. People won't always be who they are on the Internet. Trusting people to tell the truth is the risk we take, but personally...I think it's worth taking : ) x

Darlings, please pm me your addresses for cards and such, if you haven't already. I want to get these thingys out asap.

Hope you bears are all okay xxx

So, today has been rather nice!

I won a thing!

This is 100% down to [livejournal.com profile] wings128 who I made the thing for, and I have a sneaking suspicion may have nominated me (Actually...I have no idea! Did you?!) So, that was rather awesome.

And it's no surprise to me that so many of my flisties are on the winners rostrum, coz you guys are just wonderful and so, so talented. Congratulations to everyone : )

And then wings...again!!...posted a lovely rec of my Halloween fic! I wasn't sure anyone would read the weird little thing, so for her to make a post about it is super fucking special to me. Thank you so much, Darling : ) Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] somersault_j too, for making me post it in the first place : )

And then...Lily, who has been super, super sick with kennel cough, actually hasn't coughed at all today and there's been minimal snottage too! \0/ Which is super awesome as I have a hospital appointment on Tuesday and she has to be well enough to go to daycare.

And theeeen, I got to see my neice (not really my neice but the connection is too complicated to explain so henceforth...neice) in the park and she was adorable!! She even let me hold her, despite her going through a super clingy period right now, so that was lovely.

Also, last night for Halloween I watched Hellboy, which I haven't seen in ages and it was fun! I forgot how much fun it was.
And then I read The Tutor by Bonnie Dee...

...which is fucking fantastic! An m/m gothic romance, in which a guy fakes his way into becoming a tutor for twin boys living in a drafty mansion, with their grief-stricken, and coincidentally, handsome father. I really enjoyed it. The writing is fantastic, and the story is brilliant. Dont be fooled by the "Sound of Music/Secret Garden" comparison in the description. It's a ghost story – more Woman in Black than Jane Eyre if you ask me. I genuinely got the shivers at a couple of points...and not just coz of the sexytimes either! : ) But anyway. Not a waste of pennies. I shall definitely be reading it again : )

So, that was nice too : )

Let's hope the rest of the week keeps being nice. I could use it! Love your faces xxx

I only managed two drabbles today, I'm afraid. Well, they're not even drabbles as I couldn't keep to the word count. I shall try to do the rest tomorrow...I'll see how my muse doing : )

Today I am officially "feeling better". I was poorly sick... )

The most interesting thing though...and this is a dog-related question if there are any veterinary folk out there...is how come Lily now has a cold?

I've been assured that the transmission of dieases between dogs and people only works one way, but I swear to God, this is the second time that I have had this cold/throat infection/fever thing and then just as I was getting better, Lily gets it! This morning I woke up and she's coughing, snot coming out of her nose, she's lethargic, won't eat, and is desperately clingy. We're seeing the vet later just to rule out kennel cough but omg she so has my cold! Either that or she coming out in sympathy. Poor baby.

Anyway, normal service probably won't resume for a few days, as I have work and stuff to catch up on, but yay for feeling better! : )

Miss your faces : ) xxxx

So...

Sep. 5th, 2015 06:44 pm
alexisjane: (a- Hmmmm)
...I was just thinking about The Mousetrap, y'know the Agatha Christie play that's been running in the West End since the Norman Invasion. I went a few years ago and it was fab, except for the lingering worry that I spoiled the ending for the woman sitting behind me, by wildly throwing out theories during the interval, only to have one of them be right : /

Awkward.

Anyway...

At the end of the play, the audience is sworn to secrecy about the story, and it's so good I can't imagine why anyone would give it away...but then I was thinking...

If you wrote something that was basically The Mousetrap, do you think would they even bother to sue you for plagerism, as doing so would reveal the plot of the play that's been running on secrecy for more than 60 years?

Asking for a friend.
alexisjane: (Gazes Into You)
Anyone want to beta a 3.5k porny Gazes Into You timestamp? Anyone? x

alexisjane: (j2 - kissing)

So, Lynn Anderson died, which is sad. Rose Garden is one of those songs that I love but also resent for being such an ear worm -- once I hear it I can't stop singing it!

But then all roads lead to Wincest...

H/c mini-ficlet or prompt if anyone one wants it : ) )
