alexisjane: (a- oh abbadon)
I just found out someone I thought was a really nice, genuine, hard-working writer is not only a plagarist, but actually plagerized one of my favourite fanfic authors.

It's making me feel sick that I've been duped by this person, but also I'm feeling really fucking insecure about my fanfic right now. I'm torn between leaving it up for you guys, and wanting to protect myself by taking it all down.

Mostly, I'm just really fucking angry about the whole thing. The only saving grace is that the publisher was informed just after it was released, took it down and refunded people's money.

Muthafuckers...wine with lunch today, I think.
alexisjane: (humbert)

For half an hour tonight, starting at 9pm BST (1pm EDT, 4pm PDT, I think) I'll be at Victoria Sue's release party on Facebook talking about Home Is Where You Are, werewolves, and...well, whatever you want to talk about, I guess.

I've never done one of these before but I think readers just come by and ask questions and we chat...? I don't even know. So if you have time to drop by, it would be nice to see some friendly faces : )

Also, I'll be doing a giveaway of a paperback and some other swag thingies...which may or may not be an incentive : )

Anyway. That's where I'll be. Hope you can pop by xx

*hyperventilates* This is actually happening!

Okay...so the proofreader just sent back the changes to my m/s...688 commas in the wrong place...apparently I like a run-on sentence *points at self* Who? Me?

Anyway. It's late but I'm going to crack on and get the changes done tonight –– which means tomorrow, instead of doing my tax return, I will be attempting to make epub, mobi and PDF versions of the file.

Soooooo....

What would be great is if three two one zero people (one for epub, one for mobi, and one for pdf) fancied 66k of m/m old west shifter nonsense, with violence, gore, family feels, and piglets...if you could give the files a once over to make sure they had all the right pages in the right place, the links work, the type is readable....all those technical thingies that need looking at before I can sell the damn thing – that would be awesome sauce.

First come, first served.

Don't worry if someone gets there before you and you want a free copy. Once this is done I will be doing a post about free copies in exchange for an honest review. I just need to get my head around this bit first.

Oh god, this is really scary! Who the fuck said this was a good idea?

Love your faces : ) xx

alexisjane: (a- like working with children)
Why, yes, Life, I would love to get a stye on my eye this weekend.
But what say you put it on the one that doesn't already have a weirdo growth thing on it so I can really scare the children when I go outside? That way I'll have bonus limited vision in both eyes for a change! You're too good to me ♥

alexisjane: (a- oh my)
Coltan Haynes's nipple piercing was my spirit animal for a while...it's currently Levi Karter twerking in Captain America underwear, but that's beside the point.

Coltan is adorable. He talks to a pig, sings badly, plays tennis and gets sweaty with Ian Bohen (I suspect not necessarily in that order ifyaknowwhatImean *winks*). He's a dork and proud, so I'm very fond of him.

Having said that, today he posted this...

...no one that sweet should be allowed access to stubble. Just saying.

*fans self*

Also, I've eaten so much Indian food tonight I'm finding it kinda hard to breathe. I'm so full. Probably still have room for wine though : ) xx
alexisjane: (a- huh?)
I really need to get started on my BB but unlike previous years, I haven't had anything specific in mind that I want to write. I have a few ideas, all things that need writing, but which to write!!

So as usual when I'm in a jam, I'm gonna let my better half make the decision...my better half being all y'all : )

So...

[Poll #2039234]

These all need to be done at some point, so click away. I'm reluctant to include "Sequel to Space Alpacas" as I don't have an idea for that but yeah, I guess that's on the table too : ) xx

A thoroughly enjoyable read, if a little gay.
Wonderful characterisation but a tangible lack of racing cars.

As written by my ex. I've no idea why he wanted to read it other than he's very supportive. Then he sent me an email to say he'd spotted two typos.

Then I got the link to say that now everyone can see my shoddy editing!! Yay!!

*keeping fingers crossed that no more of my heroes shake off their mortal coil this week*

Two things!

1. Anyone got a couple of minutes to run their eyes over a 1k blog post today? I'm doing a guest post for someone and I just need a second pair of eyes to spot any major errors and to make sure I don't sound like a dick.

2. I haven't signed up for the spnj2bigbang yet. I'm really not sure if I should, as I have so much else to do, but then I was thinking I could use it to get down the sequel to I Stumble Forward...but I'm not sure whether people would be that bothered about reading that...opinions welcome, nay, encouraged.

ION...
Last week was a bust. I got nothing done and I'm trying not to be pissed at myself.
Lily's eye is no better. We're both getting a bit bored with eye ointment.
I've managed to not contract any illnesses for ten days...so I'll probably get something this week : )
My kids came for dinner and it was lovely.
I'm almost 99% sure that the noisy neighbors have moved out!!
Papayas are my new favourite thing.

That's it. That's everything xxx

alexisjane: (spinning ball of death)
So, I just found out my short story will be included in the Valentines Anthology from Love Lane Books next month. Luckily, I was lying down already. I'm fricken excited but also kinda having an unexpected "Aw shit...I guess that means I have to work at this thing now" moment.

But in other, not unrelated news, a complete stranger – not a fangirl or RL friend or anyone who gives two shits about how I feel – read my Halloween story and really liked it! I made a complete stranger cry and feel sad \0/ Go me! So that's taking the edge off my burgeoning panic about this other thing.

Already thinking about The Further Adventures of Daniel and Elliot.

Maybe something for Easter.

*checks schedule*

*cries*

Festive

After being introduced to the wonderfully creepy Folger incest coffee commercial, it now doesn't seem like Christmas without it. This extended version is just fantastic!

"We sent you to West Africa for a reason, Ryan!"

Perfect.

Happy Festivus, Everyone xx

Summary - An Angel and a Devil walk into a bar.

A/N - So, I wanted to write something for Halloween. Y'know, something fun and maybe scary. Except I wrote this....thing. It freaked me out a bit and I was about ready to delete it, but then [livejournal.com profile] somersault_j said I had to post it, and beta'd it and everything, so this is me posting it. It's not my usual thing...or maybe it is. Anyway. Feedback would be appreciated. I have no idea what I'm doing. Any mistakes are mine, please point them out.

Happy Halloween Y'all!!

I just read an article about a court case and I just...

RL dub con like...wtf? )

Just when you think you've heard everything, the capacity of human beings to do the most bizarre, stupid things never fails to surprise.

In other news, I was seriously impressed that I managed to do the dishes last night while under the influence. I was, however, surprised to find a ladder in my hallway, and that I answered a few comments* too! I should drink more often : ) Clearly, I get stuff done : )

Your faces...I love them ♥

*apologies for any overt dorkishness while hammered : /
alexisjane: (i stumble forward)
So, I'm gearing up to edit I Stumble Forward into something more...manuscript-ish...just coz I always promised myself I would, and I'm at the point where I need to change the names to protect the innocent.

So, I've had some thoughts...not all of them good, but I figured I'd ask as I'm shit at this, and you guys are fricken awesome.

Anyway...I don't think this is spoilery if you think you might wanna read it...although you've had a year, goddammit! It's not War and Peace, people! Although it has been described as "harrowing" in places so it might be best if you haven't...*coughs*

I digress...

I'm so bad at this )

Anyway...any feedback or suggestions would be gratefully received : ) Ridicule is cool too : P xx

p.s. I was joking about the whole reading it thing...it's most definitely not everyone's cup of tea, so I'm not actually...y'know : ) xx
alexisjane: (a- Hmmmm)
If anyone fancies spending their Sunday afternoon reading through my BB before I post tomorrow to check for formatting issues, make yourself known. H/c slowburn crime drama with voyeurism and sexytimes <69k
alexisjane: (a- Hmmmm)
So, the epic second (third?) draft of the BB begins, and in an effort to break away from the  "He said. He said" thing, I'm making myself a crib sheet (or twelve) of words to use instead of, or in addition to 'said', so it reads a bit better.

I've taken suggestions from about five different sources and have amalamated them into a giant, vaguely alphabetical list. I'm going to try to wrangle it into something more usable at some point but I thought I'd leave it here just in case anyone else might find it useful.

If you spot any duplicates or omissions, do please let me know.

Gonna try and get some actual work done now : )

Miss your faces ♥

Light out

alexisjane: (sleepy dean)
Slept from 8pm til midnight.
Tried to go back to sleep for 3 hours.
Got up.
Tackled inbox.

It's now 5.45am and now I'm sleepy ffs! I've only managed to answer about 50 messages and comments, and commented on a tiny fraction of the love meme. I'm so slow! Also starving. Breaking out the bacon and eggs before the dog gets up : )

Hope y'all had a good weekend : ) Happy Monday!! ♥ xx
alexisjane: (a- huh?)
So last weekend I was at the family place and they have a TV. I don't have one and haven't for several years. I don't feel like I miss much, especially the commercial breaks...except I caught this ad and...well, I'm not sure what the hell is going on.

Can someone please explain this? Is there a vital piece of recent pop culture that I'm missing that would make it clear what's going on? I'm wholeheartedly in favour of alpacas but why the theme music from the popular 1970's children's drama, Grange Hill?

Why?

I know I'm easily confused but...I just don't get it : /

ETA Check out write_light's comment for a link to explanatory blather! : ) x
