For anyone who's interested...

I've written a short Valentine story over on RJ Scott's blog today. It's from the Alphas' Homestead series, set kinda after Book Two, I guess.

If you haven't read the books yet, it's only a little spoilery, and gives a taste of what the series is like. Also, you can win a free book!

RJ has had a whole bunch of guest posts this month so it's worth going just to check out some other authors stuff.

Anyway — Be My Valentine — clickety for adorable boys

Looking to get some reviews on Amazon (US and UK) and Goodreads for 'Tis the Season. I have 28 copies to give away.
27k - 81 pages - festive romance - second chances - contemporary

So far the feedback has been great, but books live and die with reviews--and I'm talking quantity not quality very often. Give me a three-star, one word review on anything I write and I'll be a very happy bunny--and right now this is dying (poor little book) So I'm on a review drive!

Win Signed Copies and Other Things because I'm a year older!!

So, it was my birthday the weekend before last and I fully intended to do something lovely for my readers to celebrate. But then I ended up pretty much just enjoying my birthday and didn't get around to it. And then work happened, and then I went away for more birthday shenanigans...needless to say, no prize draw happened.

Instead, you'll just have to put up with a post-birthday-post-unbirthday extravaganza of goodies!!

Signed paperback copies of both Home Is Where You Are and Returning Home, some of the bits and pieces that I had in the UK Meet swag bag, plus bonus Curly Wurly...and maybe some other things if I can get them ready in time for posting.

The draw will last from 12am - 4 Oct to 12am - 8 Oct GMT and I'll announce the winner on Sunday!

Any New Yorkers able to help me with a little location scouting? Google Earth is being a shitbag and I may start screaming if I have to look at it's stupid face anymore. I figured maybe I should just ask you all before I start ripping my flesh from my bones : )

Slight spoilers for the Xmas story )

Also, if you fancy beta reading with a specific eye for all things big and appley, that would be lovely.

"Home Is Where You Are" is up for Book of the Month!!

You guys were so amazing at voting when I was up for Book of the Week, you all got me through to Book of the Month!

Which means I get to ask you to vote for me ALL OVER AGAIN!!

I don't hold out much hoping of topping this one as I'm up against, amongst others, Lisa Henry, who is one of my favorite writers (Discontented Winter on AO3) but it would be nice to give a shot.

So, if you have a minute and your finger feels like making a clicking motion of some kind, the page is here - Love Bytes

It's only open til Friday, and I think you can only vote once.

I know it seems silly but stuff like this really helps to get the book out there...which gives me the chance to write more books.

Thank you so much in advance!!! ♥

Returning Home

Three years after Jacob Carpenter landed on Caleb Fletcher’s doorstep, the Alpha mates return to the city they grew up in to be married.

Aside from the sheer exhaustion of traveling across the country with three children in tow, both men step foot back in New York filled with apprehension about what kind of reception they will receive from their families after abandoning their respective packs.

At first it seems they are welcomed home with open arms and much excitement about their wedding but it soon becomes clear that not everyone is so happy to see the prodigal sons return.

Indeed, Caleb finds himself wondering if Jacob will go through with the ceremony at all, or whether it would be better to pack up his mate and their children, and head back to Nebraska before the situation does irreparable damage to them both.

Sometimes you have to leave a place to realize it’s exactly where you ought to be.

Novella – 36k+
Warnings – angst, family discord, angst...bit more angst. Maybe even a bit more than that. Sexytimes. HEA.

My head's spinning a little.

It's been a fairly stressful couple of weeks and I've got a couple more to go – tether...I'm at the end of it – but today...

"Home..." is up for Book of the Week on Love Bytes reviews!!!

Which is kinda crazy as I hadn't realised the review had even come out yet, let alone that it received 4.5 stars!

The top two books from this poll go through to the Book of the Month thingy at the end of the month, which would be amazing, although I'm not holding out much hope with K-Lee Klien and Kade Harper on the list : ) But regardless it's an amazing feeling to see my name next to theirs so it's cheered me up no end.

If you like to vote for "Home..." I think you can just tickety the box on this link - POLL

It might seem a silly thing but it would help me a lot in getting the book "out there" which is the hardest thing when you're self publishing.

But also, I'm SUPER EXCITED about being in a poll!!!

Thank you for voting in advance ♥ ♥ ♥

...I needs them.

35k of angst, angst, angst and werewolves...and angst in three chapters

Each chapter comes individually with about ten questions for you to give your first impressions of the story. I need to know stuff like – is it boring, which bits need expanding, which lines should I keep at all costs, is anything confusing, did you spot any continuity errors, what did you like/dislike/want more of – no proofing or anything, just readability and sense. If you'd like to go into the word doc and comment as you read that would be brilliant but not obligatory. I'd like this to be fun for you, not a chore.

If you would like to help/get a sneak peak, and you can get the chapters back to me a week tomorrow, comment/pm/email me. I need about five people ideally.

Did I mention there was angst?

This morning I finished the first draft of Returning Home. It's a week over schedule and 35k when I was aiming for 20k but it's done.

I had to do some social things today, which was knackering so I'll away to my bed soon, and I'm going to give myself tomorrow to do stuff like do the dishes, and vacuum, and perhaps even order dog food and pick up my asthma meds...y'know, the stuff that seems unimportant when your brain is consumed with the big questions like, did they eat kedgeree in New York in 1874.

I have a bunch of messages to answer and comments to reply to which I'll make a start on tomorrow but it might take me til Friday to get down to them all, as I have a beta to do and an arc review to get on with, which get priority as both those people have waited far too long already.

In other news...my dog is still awesome...my Wayward AF teeshirt came...you guys have been super kind about my bb...I walked the dog with my flies open this evening...

Also, All Romance Books are having a sale thing, 50% off with a rebate thingy, so you can pick up loads of m/m books half price including Home... for $1.75. Clickety the picture to go there.

Oh, and Happy Fourth of July, 'Mercans! I wanted to find the clip of the Glowworm in James and the Giant Peach when they land in New York and she calls out "God Bless the colonies!" coz it's hilarious but I got nothing on YouTube. So, instead have this gorgeous version of the SSB.

Trying to get back to normal after the events of the weekend, but just wanted to drop this here.

It was Jay Northcote's birthday yesterday but she spent it quickly getting this together to raise money for The Human Rights Campaign in the USA and Stonewall in the UK.

It's a transformed Merlin fanfic of hers and is rather lovely. And if you're worried about the money getting to where it needs to go, don't be. She's one of the most transparent authors I've met.

For those of us who want to do something but don't know where to start, reading this lovely story is as good a place as any.

You can read all about it and get buy links here.

Holy Shit!

I'm on the All Romance Books Best Seller list!

What the actual hell?!

The book's only been on there 36 hours! I can only assume all y'all have been on there and order three copies each.

I just can't even.

*squishes you all*

If you would like a copy of the book what I wrote* in exchange for an honest review, let me know. I have 20 ePub, mobi, or PDF to offer.

I made a Goodreads page and it should be up on Amazon by the end of the week.

Please don't feel you have to be nice. Anything over three stars will make my day : )

*Yes, that's deliberate. I can't help myself. Too much Morecambe and Wise in my youth.
alexisjane: (Little Werewof House)
*hyperventilates* This is actually happening!

Okay...so the proofreader just sent back the changes to my m/s...688 commas in the wrong place...apparently I like a run-on sentence *points at self* Who? Me?

Anyway. It's late but I'm going to crack on and get the changes done tonight –– which means tomorrow, instead of doing my tax return, I will be attempting to make epub, mobi and PDF versions of the file.

Soooooo....

What would be great is if three two one zero people (one for epub, one for mobi, and one for pdf) fancied 66k of m/m old west shifter nonsense, with violence, gore, family feels, and piglets...if you could give the files a once over to make sure they had all the right pages in the right place, the links work, the type is readable....all those technical thingies that need looking at before I can sell the damn thing – that would be awesome sauce.

First come, first served.

Don't worry if someone gets there before you and you want a free copy. Once this is done I will be doing a post about free copies in exchange for an honest review. I just need to get my head around this bit first.

Oh god, this is really scary! Who the fuck said this was a good idea?

Love your faces : ) xx

Happy Monday, y'all!

I'm feeling chipper...don't worry, it won't last : )

I has two questions today because, of course, you are my own personal think tank ♥

1 - I've had a proto-idea for a story. I want it to be m/m romance (obs) but one of the characters is...well...dead. I quite like the idea of a guy living in a house that has a ghost, but the ghost is crap at actually haunting, so they basically live together like room mates. Except they fall in love... And that's the problem. How do I get them their HEA/corporeal sexytimes?
The only time I've ever seen something like this that work was in The Jelly to his Doughnut by blacktofade (which I highly recommend even if Sterek's not your thing) But their elegant solution is theirs so...
Anyway, I've been mulling it over and I'm not getting anywhere. And you guys are faultless at shaking my brain loose, so I thought I'd ask : )

2 - Question about formats.

[Poll #2045477]

Anyhoo, that's it. The sun is shining on the south coast today. this probably accounts for the chipperness so early on a Monday morning : ) I hope you are all fine and dandy! Kisses xx
alexisjane: (Little Werewof House)
So, the novel is out being looked at by folk who know a thing or two more about post-civil war stuff than I've picked up from Wikipedia and a couple of episodes of Little House on the Prairie. And I managed to sell something so I can pay for a professional proof-reader \0/ so all being well, this puppy should be out in a couple of weeks : )

Here is my blurb.

If you have any feedback – esp. con-crit – I'd love to hear it. I know that 'finished is better than perfect' but I'm trying to get it mostly right.

Then I can start on Book Two! ♥
