Happy Monday, y'all!

I'm feeling chipper...don't worry, it won't last : )

I has two questions today because, of course, you are my own personal think tank ♥

1 - I've had a proto-idea for a story. I want it to be m/m romance (obs) but one of the characters is...well...dead. I quite like the idea of a guy living in a house that has a ghost, but the ghost is crap at actually haunting, so they basically live together like room mates. Except they fall in love... And that's the problem. How do I get them their HEA/corporeal sexytimes?
The only time I've ever seen something like this that work was in The Jelly to his Doughnut by blacktofade (which I highly recommend even if Sterek's not your thing) But their elegant solution is theirs so...
Anyway, I've been mulling it over and I'm not getting anywhere. And you guys are faultless at shaking my brain loose, so I thought I'd ask : )

2 - Question about formats.

[Poll #2045477]

Anyhoo, that's it. The sun is shining on the south coast today. this probably accounts for the chipperness so early on a Monday morning : ) I hope you are all fine and dandy! Kisses xx

Well... how do they live together? Does the ghost have the ability to move things like in SPN? Or in Ghost? Swayze moved the air around the object in order to move it, I think? If the ghost can move things, they can at least have some sort of sex. Otherwise, maybe the ghost can enter the guy's dreams... That could make for some hot dream sex.

Yeah, I'm really searching for a way to have them be together...long term. Not just for jollies. IDK. I might have to leave this one : ) xx

Is the ghost capable of corporeal appearances. Has he mastered the ability to solidify himself? Okay, in angel, when Spike was basically a ghost tethered to a necklace he wore during the season finale of Buffy, there was a huge power surge/spell that then brought him 'back' as it were. Alternatively I have seen a few fics where ghosts have lived with, well, the living, lol, and they've mastered the art of physical contact through mental exercises. That's a possibility. Also don't forget that Sam and Dean were taught how to make things move by focusing their energy when they went into the veil to see if they could find the missing Reapers. I think in this instance that it will be a case of artistic licence, or perhaps something that helps solidify them to this world, an outside aid, such as a spell or something else?

Loving SNJ's Dream Sex idea, which is another route. Or perhaps the ghost can possess the living person and have a little self loving fun?

Anyway, onto the fic/book question. Books I love I buy in hard copy and they stay on my shelves and get revisited. If it were possible to get my fave fics like this, I would. I did in fact at one point consider getting fave fics printed and bound so I could physically keep them. If there's a chance of a fic disappearing offline I'll basically c/p to my own files. Since the invention of PDF fic downloads (thank you whoever came up with THAT) I have a large collection of them stored on my pc.

Hope that all helped some :) xx

These are all good suggestions, BB. And I keep thinking of things that might work...I still haven't found 'the one' yet.

All of that helped, yes! <3 xx

Fic I'll copy/paste and then either make a PDF if someone wants a copy or use Calibre to turn them so I can throw them on my kindle :) Books I buy as hardcover.

I think Japan and Milly already offered some pretty good ghost solution. ALSO? NOW I WANT GHOST!JARED PLAYING WITH JENSEN'S HOLE, INSERTING DILDOS AND BLOWING GENTLY ON IT AND DAMN YOU!

I know I've read some fics in this trope. With different ways to fix the obvious problem. Somehow the ghost becomes corporeal, sometimes it's a younger relative with a very good likeness... Or the living one dies and they get their HEA as ghosts... Can't for my life remember any of the writer at the moment though... :(

As for reading fics. I started reading them online in the 'reader' mode on Firefox. Then when some disappeared when I wanted to read again I got the pdf if there was one! If not I made the pdf (in font size 17) myself... (And of course sent it to the author!) Including art if there was any. Lately I've started to read in epub with the app on my tablet. It remembers where I stopped even if I have to restart it (usually because of low battery!) I even lately took a pdf and made it to an epub! Doable online!

Hope this helps!

I know, I've read some good ones, I just can't think of a solution I'm happy with yet. Not that I really need more plot bunnies right now : ) xx

(1) This reminds me of that show, Being Human. No idea how to get a HEA out of that one, though. :(

(2) I read fics directly on my phone, on either LJ or ao3 no matter how long it is. I don't mind going back and forth to the masterposts! For novels, I just checkout the ebooks from the library. I believe those are in .mobi format.

I read fics on my iPad. I'm terrible at remembering what I've read so I rely on AO3's History feature.

Books are another story. Since I work in a library, I have easy access to hard-copies of anything my little heart desires to borrow. I upload ebooks very rarely and usually just through the library, since I'm cheap. My iPad Kindle app is full of free ebooks (classics mostly) although I have purchased one or two in the past couple of years.
