...I was just thinking about The Mousetrap, y'know the Agatha Christie play that's been running in the West End since the Norman Invasion. I went a few years ago and it was fab, except for the lingering worry that I spoiled the ending for the woman sitting behind me, by wildly throwing out theories during the interval, only to have one of them be right : /

Awkward.

Anyway...

At the end of the play, the audience is sworn to secrecy about the story, and it's so good I can't imagine why anyone would give it away...but then I was thinking...

If you wrote something that was basically The Mousetrap, do you think would they even bother to sue you for plagerism, as doing so would reveal the plot of the play that's been running on secrecy for more than 60 years?

I'm posting my spn_cinema contribution later so it seems appropriate to do this now.

Everyone should post their ten most CRUCIAL CRUCIAL CRUCIAL-ASS movies, like the movies that explain everything about yourselves in your current incarnations (not necessarily your ten favorite movies but the ten movies that you, as a person existing currently, feel would help people get to know you) (they can change later on obviously).


This is really HARD!


1. Star Wars (The first three but esp. Empire) - This will forever be at the top because of this( slightly long winded explanation I gave for the Snowflake Challenge back in January )

2. In Bruges - This is at the top of my "If I had written that I could die happy" list. It's sad, and suspenseful and dark and so fucking funny...It's not the most brilliant thing you'll see, but it has everything I could wish to achieve in a story. It's what I'm working towards.



3. Audition - Sweet and simple and beautiful and scares the fucking shit out of me. I just feel like so much is said with so little. Also...girl power : ) If anyone wants to J2 this for me, I will gladly have your babies!



4. Hercules - Yes, the Disney version. No, I haven't lost my mind.


5. The Dark Knight Trilogy - Love Batman (see Star Wars explanation), especially love this Batman. It's beautiful and dark and Christian and Ken and Liam and Heath and Gary and Morgan and TOOOOM...oh my god I love it!




6. Pride and Prejudice (2005 version) - actually I love all the versions but this one made me love the book. Hated the book since being made to read it at 15. Thought Lizzy was a bitch and Darcy was a dick. This version made me read it differently. Lizzy is book smart but not necessarily people smart and Darcy is just cripplingly shy. When I read it like that, I get what everyone sees in it. I shit you not I watched this once a day for about three months last summer and still listen to the soundtrack at least that much. No. 17 on the 'Reasons that RL men are completely ruined for me' list.


7. Anything that Ray Harryhausen worked on - Scared the friggin' crap out of me. Seriously. But also taught me that reality is truly a place for people with no imagination and that if you don't like it, you can just make your own. It might look crude now but there is an elegance and authenticity to his animation that still blows me away. I'm all for CGI but my heart will always belong to Ray and his plasticine creations.



8. The Black Hole - the foundation for my love of sci-fi. Again, gave me nightmares (all of these things from my childhood seem to be feeding my love of horror which is interesting)




God. Struggling to think of two more...if it were TV shows this would be much easier!


9. Amelie - Same reasons as for 4. but more beautiful and French and No.24 on the 'Reasons that RL men are completely ruined for me' list.



10. The Doberman Gang - *rolls eyes at self* Okay, I saw this when I was a kid and it has always stuck with me. I love dogs and training dogs and I think that this is one of the big reasons why. I have not seen this for a very long time but I remember being so completely caught up in it...It looks ridiculous now but it holds a special place in my heart : )




I'll probably think of a ton of other ones that are more appropriate later but for now that's it. Talk about random : ) x

Finally...Tuesday! I thought you'd never get here.

It's been a long, slightly horrid week so very glad to make it to Tuesday.
Sooo looking forward to tonight's ep. Have managed to avoid any spoilers so have no clue what's going to happen but I'm assuming there may be some epic Ezekiel action, or at least that's what I'm hoping, cliff hanger and all.

Part of the reason this week has been icky has been my muse's steadfast refusal to put out. She has taken the plot bunnies and headed off to parts unknown, leaving a cryptic note that would take a prophet to decipher. I swear one of the words is 'falafel'.
Anyway, I expressed this state of affairs to a couple of folk and realised trying to come up with excuses for her being a lameass is actually kinda fun. Like the writer's block equivalent of 'Yo Mamma". I shall undoubtedly add more to this list until she gets her arse back in gear.

This is not SPN but it's beautiful. kalliel's 1327- Fast 6 Paul Walker's death, along with his friend's, broke a little piece of my brain at the weekend. Just when I stopped crying, she posted this and I started all over again. It's beautiful but agonising as you can feel her grief poured into it. Read it and then send her hugs.


On a happier note...I saw this thing...

I have nothing really to say...except does anyone else get really sad looking at all the fab Con stuff that people put up?
I do but not because I want to be there. I just know if I was there I'd be a dribbling wreck and I'm so profoundly uncool I could never go to one of these things.
Seriously.
I once passed Anthony Hopkins on the street in New York and nearly passed out. Maybe its a medical thing.

Anyway...

Tuesday! I was doing my Tuesday dance (no, I'm not showing you) and someone was asking me about Tuesday and I was happily telling them how awesome it is when I remembered this fic, Tuesday : ( It was one of the first fanfics I read and one of the reasons I stuck around. It's seriously f*cked up. No surprises as to who wrote it : ) It will change your Tuesdays forever (also Mystery Spot! One of my favs!)
