14th Dec: toratio - What was the first fic you ever read? Was it awesome? Was it awful? Did it get you into ficcing?
Aka losing my fic-ginity : )

Right, I'm not sure what the first fic I ever clicked on was, but the first one I ever read without skimming and shying away from was Mile High Club by merihn It's only 800-odd words of porn but it was the first thing I read that was good, like actual proper writing (I know, I know) and made me want to read more. At first the idea of reading anything over 1k seemed daunting so her masterlist was perfect. I worked my way through all her ficlets and gradually became less scared to try the longer fics (which seems ridiculous now - the longest she has is 8k! Today I read a 30k, 2x 2.5k and a 83k! What a difference a year makes!)

Anyway, once I'd read all of her stuff I had a quick look through her flist and that how I stumbled upon ash_carpenter's journal and it was Ash that got me into ficcing. For those that don't know, Ash was the first person I made a comment to and she was endlessly patient and kind with my endless squeeing and raving. And when I had an idea for a sequel to one of her stories, she let me write it and post it and was really so encouraging, I couldn't have asked for a better welcome into fandom. She's a fucking saint for putting up with me : )

God, that feels like a million years ago! : ) ♥

lj let me know you tagged me so I thought I might leave a comment bc this has just made my day! I'm so glad my fics got you into reading fic :) fic is the best. I'm no good at long fic so I'm glad that worked for someone else too haha. makes me wish I was still into all this, I miss writing :( anyway blah blah thanks for the lovely compliment and I hope you keep writing foreverrrrrrr

I would definitely not hate it! it's pretty unlikely I'd get back into spn writing anyway, I stopped watching the show at the start of s5 when they ruined everything. which is sad bc it made me so prolific. thank you for being so lovely and also for enjoying my mostly terrible fic so much :)

Ash is beyond amazing, and so is merhin as well. I used to happily sit in the dark and read until my eyes rolled up, in those days of Lurkerdom ;) I almost miss those days, where I had nothing to do but lurk and read and be all sneaky about enjoying my Wincest kinks without the need to jump in and be a part of it all. don't get me wrong, I ADORE being here and being open and active, but many many happy hours were spent mainlining Ash's fics....I haven't had time to read a fic in ages, lol! xx
