Maybe slightly bizarrely...YouTube. Not the whole thing just some art bits, namely...

Proko - Drawing tutorials from Stan Prokopenko. Stan studied, and now teaches, at the Watts Atelier and I think I've learned more about drawing from his free tutorial videos that I did during 6 years of art school. The vids are fun and informative with something to be taken away regardless if you are a beginner or more advanced. He also has a premium course if you want to pay for more in depth content but the free stuff is really excellent. Also he's goof and does some cute stuff to try to keep it interesting but you can see in some of the outtakes how embarrassed he is about the whole thing. 'S cute : )

A full list of videos is here to follow in subject order.  Personally, I started with the Portrait/Head list. I think he made those first.

Draw Mix Paint - Oil painting tutorials from Mark Carder. Mark Carder is a fab painter and in his vids demonstrates what has become known as the Carder Method. He uses only 5 colours to do all his painting which focuses on very simple colour matching, preparation and observation. Some of the vids are hours long so you can see every step and some are just quick thoughts on varnishing, blending mediums or whatnot. Basically, this is how I learnt to paint with oils. He has some vids that you can buy so you can see the process of painting a whole portrait. Also his voice is quite soothing which helps : )

All his videos are here

For Photoshop, my go to's are...

Photoshop Tutorials with Howard Pinsky - He does some quick 1 minute tutorials on common problems as well as demonstrating other stuff. He talks fast but he's very good at showing how to work non destructively ie. not entirely deleting stuff so you can go back to earlier stages if you screw up.

Ctrl+Paint - These are good basic introductions to a slightly different method of Photoshop painting than I'm used to but they are really thorough and cover lots of different tool applications.

Draw with Jazza - This guy is adorable. He's an animator and cartoonist and does some really fun tutorials about everything from animation to how to deal with clients. There are resources that he provides and has a few paid courses too. Well worth checking out.

There are a few others but basically YouTube isn't just great for funny cat videos. I find it's a fab learning resource and if you're stuck it's definitely worth searching for a "How To..." on there : ) x

I had a quick peek at these and have bookmarked them so I can go through them properly. What a great set of videos! I've used many, many youtube Photoshop tutorials. I think it's an invaluable resource but I also love the instructional art vids you've added. It makes me want to find as many as possible.

Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks for these -- I bookmarked the Photoshop ones. I have promised myself not to do any more challenges for a while (tomorrow I post my last one for the year) and instead turn my efforts towards delving more deeply into the program. These will likely help.

I'm a youtube addict! I love finding cool videos to show my kids, and my son and I learn new ideas for our rube goldberg machines all the time. Also, I post my completely boring nutrition math tutorials on there for my students.

Youtube is just fab! It's a god send for me as I really only learn stuff by seeing it done, instruction manuals do nothing for me.
I feel like D should have his own Rube Goldberg channel : ) i love that he's so into that stuff x
