When he got into the car he slammed the door shut harder than necessary, the sound echoing around the parking garage like a gunshot. He was lying to Jensen.

Chris didn't feel the need to segueway into anything when he put Jensen's coffee on the table. "Dispatch got a nine-one-one call about 3am." He threw a bag of chips down, and scowled when Jensen raised an eyebrow at them. "You look like you might pass out. Just fucking eat something."

It had been years since he had been awakened by Will screaming out in the night - having to hold him, calm him, or ending up sleeping next to him the nights there was no calming him - but he was pretty sure that it was because Will had learned to be quiet, not because the nightmares had stopped.

Haha, is that line really okay? I've been looking at it and kinda thinking it was horribly cliched and maybe I should cut it! It's Will's father's POV...and thinking about it it does describe an ongoing theme of Jack really not seeing or understanding what's happening with his son, so maybe I should keep it : )

It is so cool! It's quite weird how little I read from the people on my flist so it's really nice to see everyone's words : ) xx

It really is. It works wonderfully for the complexities of a father son relationship. I imagined two lovers simply because the feeling behind the scene reminded me of "Echoes" - the fic with John being "haunted" by the people he left behind in the war, and Ronon being the one to anchor him in the dark shadows of their bed. I love it when reading one thing reminds you of another.

Yes it is! I'm half way through and have been dragging my feet about getting back to it but having skimmed some bits to find a quote, it's not quite as horrible as I remembered!

Chris had such a small part in my last bb I really wanted to have more of him in this next one. And I've made him extra specially grumpy and overprotective. Oooo, there's such a great scene...only slightly spoilery flashback

He tried to say it like it was nothing, like the memory of feeling the punch to his chest had lessened. The look of horror on Brock's face even before the bullet had fully penetrated him. Suddenly being on the ground, wondering how on earth he'd got there so fast. Chris screaming out his name, gravel spitting up as he slid on his knees towards him. Feeling the pain appear out of nowhere, suddenly flooding his body. Chris holding his cell to his ear, calling for the paramedics, and Jensen reaching up to try to pull it away because Chris's fingers were covered in blood and Jensen was grossed out that it was getting on Chris's face and in his hair. Brock bent over him, pressing his rolled up shirt so hard onto Jensen's chest he couldn't breathe, tears running down Brock's ashen face even though he was impassive, like a shell, and Jensen wanting to say it's okay and don't worry but all that came out was, "You shot me. You shot me." until the world went black and all that was left was Chris's voice screaming out, "Stay with me, Jen! Don't go! Stay with me!"

And Chris just won't stop taking care of him, big brother style : ) Makes me happy. I can't ever ship them but aaaaall the bro feels : ) x

Number three is kinda heartbreaking, just in that little snippet. Your writing really is beautiful. And protective Chris in number two, one of my favourite things, and Jared, really, I presume you've got a damn good reason for lying to Jensen. I can't wait to read these finished fics :)

Aw, Hun, thank you. I've been trying to finish that story for ages but the father/son relationship is kinda complex and I keep putting it off!

I really wanted to write Chris into my bb with a bigger role this year and I think he's turning out okay : ) I'm so happy people seem to like protective Chris...coz he really is in this : )

Oh poor Jared. I wish I'd chosen a different line now! He does have a good reason and good motives, he's not doing anything wrong, it's just he feels guilty too easily : ) bless him. I'm hoping to finish this one this week!
