Sam. Cas doesn't even seem to think of it, just stands there dripping. Until Sam sidles over, shielding him from the downpour. Cas offers a nod silently in thanks, and then gradually shuffles closer until his pressed to Sam's side.
who is the grumpiest in the morning
Neither. When the alarm goes off, there's no leaping out of bed, simply a slow awakening, moving to touch each other, snoozing for a while in each others arms, before their mouths find bare skin, and so it goes from there. Breakfast is similarly easy, Cas walking by with cereal in one hand, casually running the other over Sam's shoulders as he reads the paper, Sam pulling Cas's stool closer when he sits down so he can rest his palm on Cas's thigh. All quiet and intimate but never grumpy.
who worries more when the other is sick/hurt
Cas. He knows the fragility of humans, has watched it for eons, and it tears him up inside knowing how little time they have together even if nothing untoward happens. The slightest hint of a cold, or insect bite or cut, he's fussing around with that panicked look in his eye, that Sam knows he can never appease so he just lets Cas feed him chicken soup and unplugs the wi-fi so he can't use WebMD.
who plays pranks on the other
Cas tries to. He thinks it will help him to fit in. Dean tries to help but after the second fire, Sam asks them to both to please stop.
who is always the first to suggest cuddling on the sofa
Cas. He'll just appear, smiling softly and pat the space next to him. That's all it takes for Sam's stomach to flip, that tiny gesture. And so he goes, curling up next to his angel, to read or let Cas tell him everything there is to know about bees, or just to hold each other in silence.
who insists on creating nicknames for the other
Sam. It confuses the hell out of Cas, as his own name seems perfectly adequate but it makes Sam smile so he guesses it's a good thing.
who drools on the other when they’re asleep
Cas. Drools and snores, wriggles and steals the covers. It drives Sam mad, especially as Cas doesn't even need to sleep. Still, it gives him the excuse to pin him down, sprawling his long limbs over the angel to keep him still and stop him from waking up with a sodden teeshirt.
who says ‘I love you’ first
Sam. Cas doesn't get why it's so important at first, it's obvious how they feel about each other. Dean tries to explain why it's important to Sam to hear it, and for Cas to mean it, but he still isn't sure. Not until the first time Sam slides into him, and then he can't stop saying it, he practically screams it when he comes all over himself. Tells Dean proudly the next morning, that he finally gets it. Dean smiles and claps him on the back, saying, "Oh, I heard! I'm proud of you, Buddy." before shooting his blushing brother a grin and leaving them alone in the kitchen.

Stiles. Derek isn't exactly a morning person but Stiles groans and flails. He complains about everything. It's too hot to get up, it's too cold to go outside, it's too early, why didn't Derek wake him earlier coz now he's gonna be late. He stomps around the flat looking for the stuff he scattered around the place the night before. Derek pinches the bridge of his nose and pretends to read the paper, sliding a mug of coffee and plate of toast across the counter when Stiles rushes past, until Stiles clambers into his lap and kisses him stupid with his buttery mouth before he runs out of the loft pulling his messenger bag over his head.

Stiles. Which is ridiculous as Derek's wolfie healing powers work just fine. But still Stiles hovers and wrings his hands and brings Derek tea, and blankets and the chocolate chip cookies he really likes, until he's sure Derek is knitted back together. Derek figures it's his own fault for handing Stiles a saw and telling him to cut of a limb that one time, but he lets Stiles go through the motions. Plus he does really like those cookies.

Stiles. So much so that Derek stands well back whenever he opens a door (he's been soaked by the ole bucket-balance-on-the-door trick more often than he'd like to admit), checks the toilet bowl for plastic wrap every morning, and changes the password on his phone daily just to be on be the safe side. And he knows the danger signs. Coming home to Stiles quietly reading shouldn't make anyone that nervous. But he hasn't been wrong yet.

Stiles. But it's not usually a suggestion. If Derek is on the sofa, give it a couple of minutes and Stiles will be there, crawling up into his lap or dragging Derek's arm around his shoulders. It doesn't matter that they're in the middle of a pack meeting, or if Derek is on the phone to Cora. And if Stiles is on the sofa, Derek knows to give it a wide berth, because Stiles might be human but he's strong enough to reach out and pull Derek down if he gets within arms length, wrapping himself around Derek like an octopus and holding him there, regardless of whether Derek had plans or not.

Stiles. He always bitches about how Derek is like a furnace when he sleeps but it doesn't stop him from ending up using Derek as a pillow at some point during the night, and wakes Derek up trying to surreptitious wipe pools of spit off his shoulder or chest or back, before snuggling back into the same spot and falling asleep again.

Derek. The words came out of his mouth and his heart froze. Stiles mouth fell open and he just stared at Derek, until Derek tried to leave and Stiles tackled him from behind, pushing him to the floor and kissing him until Derek thought he was going to suffocate. And he never stopped saying it, whispering into Stiles neck when Stiles pulls him down for a cuddle, says it between licking buttery crumbs from Stiles's lips every morning, mumbles it reluctantly when Stiles rushes to him, purple with laughter with a towel in one hand as the other takes the bucket from Derek's head, sighs it into Stile's hair in the dark night as he pulls him closer, murmurs it into his open mouth as Stiles's arches his back and moans every time Derek pulls himself up and in.
Stiles never says it but that's okay. He shows Derek instead with every single moment they spend together.

Date: 2015-02-15 07:12 pm (UTC)Sam. He snickers when he finds it in the trunk of the Impala, amongst the machetes and sawn-offs. But actually in comes in pretty handy a couple of times, even if Dean refuses to acknowledge it's helpfulness.

Dean. But mainly because Sam's still not really sleeping, so by the time morning comes around, he's already been awake for hours. It does do him any harm, he goes back to running the 5am drills his father used to make him run. Being out of the game a while means he has some catching up to do. But still Dean grumbles and bitches about how Sam's trying to make him look bad, while he sneaks looks that are all worry and occasionally want, but neither thing comes to anything for a while. Which probably explains why Dean is so grumpy.

Dean. Always has, always will. Sometimes he tries to pay it down but Sam can see the anxiety regardless.

Oh both. Until they come to blows, rolling around on the motel carpet, until they suddenly realise it's not about that any more. Later, Sam asks if what happened next was down to the Trickster too, but Dean just huffs out a laugh and reminds him they've been doing that since Sam was sixteen, so, no.

Dean. He likes the closeness when they're watching tv or researching. Likes to feel Sam pressed up against his side, occasionally turning his head to press a kiss to Sam's hair. Before Stanford, Sam would be the one to initiate...well, everything, but now it's like Dean is making up for lost time. That and he can't bare to let Sam out of his reach.

Dean. Sometimes it's like he can't remember Sam's real name. It drives Sam insane, til he catches Dean's smirk and remembers how horny it makes him when Sam's hot under the collar.

Dean. To the point where it's a little disgusting. And the reason the get a room with two beds, that way they can sleep in the spare if anything needs "drying out"

Dean. Sam wants to but he just can't. He's still too raw after Jessica, didn't think he'd ever say the words to any one again. And then Dean starts to say it, except he doesn't. He whispers it, when he thinks Sam is asleep, or not listening or too far away to hear. But Sam does. He hears it every time, and every time he gets a little closer to saying "Me too, Dean. Me too."
