So yesterday, one of my family members started following me (author me) on Twitter.

As the kids would say, shits getting real, yo.

I've been ummimg and ahhing for ages about taking down some of my more extreme fic from AO3, and that's really made the decision for me. And I'm going to be f-locking most of the fic on my journal too.

So, if you want a Mobi or PDF of Gods and Monsters or Wheelhouse or whatever, go get it now, because in a week it'll be gone ♥

This is something I fret about all the time.

For one thing, Ruby is getting older and using the internet more. Although I am extremely careful with what I look t while she is around the house, I occasionally do check comments and such while she's home, and I know that she's aware that "blackrabbit42" is my "writer name". It's only a matter of time before she gets a little more curious. Yikes.

Secondly, you know those "joy that's pointless" Christmas cards I sent out? For LJ friends who might not have recognized my real name, I signed them with my name, and then put (blackrabbit42) after it. So the day I was mailing them, I had a stack on the table, and my ex-step-grandmother came over to visit. This woman is so lovely. She's an amazing artist, and just so gracious and beautiful and poised, and I love her to pieces. She noticed the cards, and picked one up, and was admiring Dash's work, and I stupidly said she could have one, and now I just have to pray that she never thinks to google blackrabbit42, right?

Anyhow, recently just f-locked my whole journal (with the help of firesign13, thanks bb!) because of the situation in my marriage, and I don't know if I will unlock in the future or not. We'll see.

I know my offspring is a grown up but yeah, I still worry about that stuff even though he knows what I write.

Do you think your ex-step-grandmother (there's got to be a quicker way of saying that) would google you? Maybe you can bring her into them/m fold : )

I think f-locking is a good idea. I don't want to lock fic really but G&M has been bothering me for a long time. I keep meaning to take it down but then I'll read it again and I do really think it's one of the best things I've written. But yeah, time to give it up I think : ) xxx

Also I haven't forgotten, I'm just slow! It's coming! Xxx

I think I will keep those two up for now, but there's no harm in grabbing a copy while you can just in case I have to take everything down (and there's more coming of both, I promise...I know I keep saying this but it will happen eventually!!)

Ok, so I just discovered that I'm not subscribed to you over at AO3. Not at all sure how that oversight occurred, but rest assured it's been rectified (which sounds way more painful than it actually was) and I have been madly downloading my favourites.

You know, my user name and my name at AO3 is a nickname I've had for centuries. I've never worried about folks making the connection because my RL and my fandom life is so far removed, if anyone found that connection I'd have to admire the hell out of them.

I'm going to have to go grab some story! I'm in the habit these days of automatically downloading stories I like as soon as they're available, because I've had my heart broken once or twice by losing a story. :)

Oooh scary tho! Lol, I actually did something similar to blackrabbit42 where I mailed out xmas cards to all my LJ friends and ONE non-LJ friend, totally forgetting that I signed it Percy. And then she posted a photo of the front of the card to facebook to (jokingly) ask who sent it, even though she knew it was me. Thankfully, the signature was on the back of the card, done in a way that she might not have even know it was supposed to be my name.

Dang about your fics, tho! I hate losing my fav authors fics on AO3. Totally understandable though. If it's an option, you could create another AO3 account for more 'hardcore' fics, unattached to this alias - I've known some folks that have done that.

Oh also - do I follow you on twitter? Do I need to make sure that I never tweet any non family-friendly things to you?

I opened this LJ for my fic, because various young and elderly relatives and friends know about my original LJ. I don't think any of them know anything about AO3, though--not their field of interest.

But I certainly understand your instinct, and applaud your acting on it. Just--don't go anywhere off LJ without fair warning, mkay?
