I didn't write a reaction post to last weeks ep. because I think everything that I thought had been said bar one thing.
Well, maybe two.
Tim Omundson. Blows. My Mind.
Even though he's been in fucking everything apparently, I only knew him from Psych, in which he is extremely funny and even though the show is flagging a bit IMO (apart from 8:02 which I just watched and is Hi.La.Ri.Ous), he always delivers.
Then I saw him in The Booth At The End.
This is the show. THE show.
If I could have only ever written one tv thing (movie- In Bruges. book - The Stand) , it's this. As far as I'm concerned it is one of the most perfect pieces of story telling ever. If you haven't seen it, beg, borrow or stream it where ever you can. It's almost definitely not for everyone. Originally made as a series of 7 minute(?) long webisodes, it's performed almost like a play, interweaving the stories of several people who never actually meet into a web of horrfying, beautiful, uplifting devastating complex storylines that merge and disintegrate...it's awesome. I think they were then bunched together and shown on SciFi(?) in three eps. Season 2...not as good but ready to donate an organ if need be for S3.
Anyway, Tim Omundson is in that. And when I saw him walk on, I was really not sure and fully expecting the same sort of character as in Psych. Fuck me. He was a different person. I know...actor...but really, his physicality, his voice, it was like he had a brother or something that was just filling in. It was astounding.
And then again in 'First Born'. He's just staggering. And it's not just the beard...okay, it's a bit the beard. He has prescence and strength and is quite frankly fucking scary. He is just amazing. I'm so, so glad they got him for this. The casting guys should get a medal, a great big huge shiny medal that you can peel the foil off and it's chocolate underneath...but ginormous ; )
I thought he was really good. I want more of him. Lots more.
Now the actual thought.
So Sam's got a little bit of angel in him and Dean's probably going to turn out to be a demon (coz I'm not hot enough for him already, they gotta do this to me!) which I'm more than happy with. Vessels, agency, brothers, Cain and Abel, fratricide, yadda yadda...
Lest we forget..the two other brothers that were set for a fight in which one gets killed...the thing that fate and cupids had been working towards since Cain killed Abel...the thing that is their destiny...the reason that Dean and Sam exist...THAT thing!
It maybe the apocalypse...again. But whose to say it isn't something else similarly epic but not necessarily bad. It appears that you get an angel and a demon in the same room and awesome things happen. Throw in Winchester and god knows what'll happen.
I have tried and dicovered I can't be arsed to find the quote (in fact I'm sure it was said more than once by more than one character) that Sam and Dean couldn't stop the apocalypse, that it was fated and that it would play out one way or another. I'm just thinking that this is it.
I think Dean is going to go dark (oh god I think I wrote something about that already O_o I require a "I am Chuck" tshirt immediately!) and it will be his love of Sam that will save him. Because who doesn't love symmetry, huh? : )
Anyway, watch this and tell me you don't long for a another season like that.
That was it.

Date: 2014-01-29 09:16 am (UTC)And the fact that he scares himself now with what he's prepared to do, how scary will he be without the guilt!!
Ah, but I know whatever I think is going to happen, they'll go somewhere else with it. Which is good coz if it was predictable like that I probably wouldn't watch : ) x

Date: 2014-01-29 10:03 am (UTC)This is true! We can only wait and see. :)
Ah yes. Season 2 Buffy = the best Buffy. (Got to admit, I'm more about Spike and Dru than Angelus. I like him in A:tS when he's manipulating everyone from within his cell, though.) IDK, though, I think if Dean was going to go darkside, he'd probably do it more like Faith? Like, 'I've screwed up so much there's no going back,' but still with the self-destructiveness to it.

Date: 2014-01-29 04:46 pm (UTC)See now you've said that, all I can think is Dean is Faith! The recklessness, the sexual abandon, having nothing but the job all to cover up the hurt.. I'm shocked with myself that I hadn't seen it before. I could totally see the arc turning Dean against Sam...oh god, Souless!Dean would be so hot I may actually die so if that does happen and you don't hear from me in a couple of days, I'll be in a coma somewhere.

Yeah, they're alike in a lot of ways! And how badly Faith wants a family and a parent figure at first, and she's willing to do terrible things once the Mayor offers her that... you can see how in a different situation a young Dean could have gone the same way.

S'okay, I'll probably be in a coma of my own.

Date: 2014-01-29 01:50 am (UTC)i'm so excited for tonight's episode, just to see if Dean tells Sam about the mark at all, or if Castiel can tell right away. What if Dean has to do the whole Bond girl thing and try to infiltrate Abaddon's regiment and slay her in her sleep . . .
I thought it was interesting that Cain and her had been lovers. And we know she has a huge hard on for Dean. I want to see her take him against his will. Oh, yes.

Date: 2014-01-29 09:23 am (UTC)I think I just really loved Michael and Lucifer and that dynamic and the whole inevitability of the apocalypse that was "inescapable' and then just went away...it hasn't been resolved, at least not in my head. I think there has to/should be a confrontation, like that but not the same and I really think they will wrap in up in S10 so the angel/demon winchester bit...I think it'll be interesting whatever : )
Quite frankly as long as we get more Cain, I'm not fussed x
