The banner about maintenance tonight is giving me terrible anxiety. I've turned if off but I still know it's there and I don't like it.

I wasn't going to do it but I watched S1 E01 of Teen Wolf. I already want to bite Derek. It's early days but I think I like it.

The sun was out today. I'd forgotten how seriously Morlock I get during the winter. I could feel my Eloi self rising to the surface in the sunlight and it was glorious. It's going to rain tomorrow but I feel better than I have done in ages. Makes me realise that I should stop talking about moving to a warmer climate and just find a way to bloody do it before I die of old age in the dark and cold...which is an actual thing that could happen in the not too distant future.

It makes me seriously cross seeing painters and painting portrayed on film or tv, primarily because of the dabbing (don't fucking dab at it, use the friggin' brush, dammit!) but also because of the face smear. Everyone who paints on film gets an aesthetically pleasing smear of paint on their cheek, thus illustrating their free spirited, bohemian approach to life and art.
Every day I paint and almost everyday I get a paint smear on my face.
About 10% of the time it's a mono brow, a thick line of ick from one brow to the other, and the other 90% it's a Hitler moustache. Quite often in blue regardless of what colour I've been painting in. I often think that my most valuable piece of painting equipment is the mirror by my front door that has saved me from walking around outside with an offensive upper lip too many times to mention.

I'm trying so hard to not get spoiled for the show tomorrow...I can't wait : ) x

I completely unintentionally walked into three spoilers for upcoming stuff, sadface. :(( Two on Tumblr and one on Twitter, which really just means I NEED TO STOP GOING ON THOSE SITES. But I'm actually pretty down with all of them, which is rare, so I guess it could be worse. Hopefully they're all in episodes coming up soon, because I want to be 100% unspoiled again! IT'S SUCH A GLORIOUS STATE.

I don't dare go on tumblr, no one gives a crap about spoiling stuff on there so I just stay away! And the closer to Tuesday it gets the worse it is! I think saying unspoiled is a bit of a double edged sword. I feel like I'm missing out on trailers and cool pics and stuff but then I worry that it'll affect the way I view the story too much. Sometimes I'll watch a trailer of an ep afterward an I think "Yeah, that's not exactly what happened at all!"
At least the ep will air tomoro and then have a couple of days off before it begins again! : ) x

I feel both violated and a bit peckish after reading that. I love that the Soylent packaging is plain white! Can you imagine the design meeting!

It's been snowing here for 2 days and I keep yelling at it - I live in a temperate RAIN forest. RAIN! - Strangely, I don't seem to be having any effect and it keeps snowing. The snowdrops and crocuses are out, tulips are popping through the ground, I've seen cherry blossoms. It's spring, dammit, and it's snowing. My only consolation is that in a couple months we'll see an ep of SPN where they're somewhere snowy and I'll know when it was filmed. :)

I highly recommend moving somewhere where you love the climate. I wish Canada had a Hawaii because I'd move there in a flash.

I love the visual of you and your blue hitler moustache no matter what colour you were painting with. I've only ever painted walls, and I tend to wear more than I've ever gotten on the wall.

It is remarkably hard to avoid spoilers thanks to social media. I definitely have to remember to avoid many sites on Tuesday afternoon/evening until I've seen the episode. Let's hope the upcoming one is slightly less heartbreaking.

We have a similar thing here. All the flowers are out but under water! It's rained since November and the whole country is underwater (in a lot of places literally!) We're lucky here that we're not in a floodable property.
Hell, if Canada had a Hawaii I think most everyone would move there! How perfect would that be : ) x

It's cold here today and very windy, but no snow. About half of what we got last week is still hanging around but I managed to pry my garbage can loose for trash pick up today. :)

I'm unspoiled all the way and staying off EVERYWHERE. I'm not even supposed to be here because writing, but I've been off LJ for a week and no writing has been done anyway, so what the hell. Might as well catch up, right?

This is HILARIOUS. Ah, the artful smear of beautiful paint, yes! EVERY FREAKIN' MOVIE HAS IT. I love the realistic paint smears you get. (And I didn't know you painted! That's awesome!) I used to paint a lot, but mostly watercolor, which doesn't leave a lot of smears ... but I had to laugh, because my teacher used to give me SUCH a hard time about dabbing!

No, with the dabbing!! Although I did tape myself painting for a project and I was amazed at how much time I spent wafting the brush around before letting it hit the surface. Watercolour is hard! I can't be that precise or subtle with my stuff. I tend to just paint and then spend the rest of the time fixing it. Do you still paint ever? x

Lately I've been feeling inspired again! I picked up (water-based) oils a few years ago, figuring it might get me into painting again to have to learn new techniques, but I haven't done it since, which makes me have to assume I'm either not into painting anymore or I'm not into my traditional subjects (nature, some portraits) anymore. Maybe if I were to paint Sam naked ....

I NEVER STOPPED DABBING! But it's a watercolor thing--I just dabbed into a wet place I'd just painted, because I knew there was more color in the brush, and if you dab, it releases it JUUUUST right into the wet place ... which WOW, just started sounding INCREDIBLY dirty. SERIOUSLY, I DID NOT MEAN FOR IT TO. But, um, yeah. It's hard with watercolor because it's so easy to get more or less color than you're really going for, so I loved the dabbing!

How long have you been painting, and what do you like to paint?

I've been painting for about 7 years and did conceptual stuff before that. I was using acrylic up until a year ago and have been using the water asked oils since. They're fab! I really prefer them.
I paint stairs and peeling wallpaper, urban decay, stuff like that. I can't get along with the traditional subjects either. I think you have to paint what interests you or it won't work. I did a portrait of my son in the hospital and that turned out pretty well so I'd like to do some more un usual portraiture like that I think.
I'm such a klutz, I even find drawing hard as I tend to overwork it so badly. I'm in awe of your dabby skills. I just don't have the finesse for that stuff

I'm getting quite good at scanning Pinterest and not looking too closely at anything vaguely new looking but the fandom people I follow on there are pretty good at not pinning spoilers stuff. With one exception. And if I find her I may have to kill her! x
