Yes. I think you have a point. And there are many times when Dean has said that Sam is more like Dad than Dean ever could be. Dean affected John's behavior and even tried to look like him superficially, but Sam and John . . . I'm seeing the parallels even now with every decision Sam's ever made.
John and Sam are stubborn and no amount of pleading on Dean's part will ever make a difference and he knows it. John had been on a suicide mission since their mother died and Dean took it upon himself to keep him alive. It was why he wouldn't leave John's side and John had to abandon him. Sam with Sam.
I can't remember when it really got brought home to me, I think maybe the first timetravel one. But Dean is really much more like Mary, just bred to be a hunter whereas it was thrust upon John and Sam and they only did it because they were traumatised and became obsessive about it because of their stubbornness. Also they cry all the time. Practically every scene with John he's all weepy. Dean is definitely more of a Campbell which is why I think he's so confrontational with Samuel, coz they're so alike. And he really wants to not hunt, like Mary but the difference is that she had Deanna to give her a balanced perspective whereas Dean had no-one. Plus Mary's a badass x
Yeah, it's strange. Dean got along with John. Sam didn't. Sam got along with Samuel, and Dean killed him.
Holy fuck. Neither Mary nor Dean had a choice. It was made for them. And I think what happened to Mary is the reason Dean won't consider having a family. He knows no matter what he will put them in danger or he will die and he can't allow them to grieve over him.
John having another family on the side with Adam and his mom . . . Wow. Then Sam doing it too with Amelia.
It's subtle but it's definitely in there. I think it's the reason too that Dean has a hard time with Sam wanting a normal life and thinking that he can just walk away from hunting, as i don't think he believes that its' possible and that it puts everyone in danger. Which I why I never really bought him and Lisa. I can see him wanting to try but he never looked to me like he was convinced that he'd given up the life for good x
He didn't. He thought about it constantly and drank a lot. It's why Lisa never tried to put a leash on him when Sam came around. She understood Dean even though she didn't know everything about him. He didn't even tell her what happened to Sam. She knew what he did, but I guess it's what military wives have to deal with.
The way Dean would wake up every morning, troubled and trying to make things work with Lisa, but feeling out of place with everyone. But he made a promise to Sam and he never stopped looking for a way to get him out. Every night he would stay up trying to figure it out. He took a break from the life, he didn't leave it.
I said this once and for some odd reason it offended a flistie and she unfriended me. I'm like . . . what? Seriously?
But that's just what happened...in the show...what actually happened... weird. Was she a Destiel shipper or something? (not hating, guys, just different perspective!) I know people have their preferences but one of the great things about being on here is being able to see everyone elses perspective and getting to talk about it and laugh your ass off when they inadvertently see a gif of Sam bottoming or something : ) It makes no sense to me that people should get that cross about stuff that is fictional, even though we treat it like it's real. I'm so sorry that happened to you x
