alexisjaneI guess it's not (or at least isn't particularly) a secret that I don't really have an income. I do art type things and sometimes I get paid for them. Mostly, I survive on the generosity of my friends and family finding me odd things to do or make so that I can pay basic bills and eat. There are a number of reasons for this, but mostly I just try to do what I can, with what I have and try to get through the day. Occasionally, I'll sell something big and I can pay the rent for a couple of months and splash out a bit but that doesn't happen very often. My luxuries are my computer and my Lily. It's boring but okay.
Anyway, because of this and because I'm trying really hard to be practical, I've set up a Deviant Art thing where I am going to put my fannish artworks and people can buy them if they feel like it. I really love making them but it's too hard to try to justify spending time on them when I should be doing my commercial work. Unfortunately, I have to go where my muse takes me and right now she really wants me to draw naked men - not paint chandeliers - so the naked men are going to have to at least make a show of pulling their weight.
It's not ideal and I feel a bit sick about doing it as this stuff is supposed to be for fun but I can't really be a chooser about this. I'm really hoping this is okay with everyone. I'm not quite sure why it wouldn't be but I feel really bad about it....just for a change : ) If you can think of a glaringly obvious reason I shouldn't do it, that I've missed, do let me know, won'tcha?

I'm still learning my way around but when I get lost, it's usually somewhere interesting. :)

I just get ideas and mess around with them...Don't get it unless you're sure though, Hun (I ordered a Jared just to see the print quality and the postage was as much as the print for Europe. it was 8.71 euros in total for a 20x30cm photo)

Plenty of people make money off their art/fics on here...it's perfectly logical, and since you're talented enough (amazingly so, in fact) to do that, then why not? Hell, if I was good enough to write for a living, believe me that's what I'd be doing. I think this is a fantastic decision and DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP OVER IT. Maybe whenever you do or start beating yourself up about it, you PM one of us and we'll remind you how much of a good idea this is. And...AND...think about this...you're giving people little bits of the fandom with your art...don't you think that's wonderful. I love all my SPN merchandise, but nothing is quite as wonderful as an ORIGINAL piece that no one else has and YOU'RE giving that to people. And I think that's pretty darn amazing...
