I just read an article about a court case and I just...

So this woman meets a guy online and he's nice and they want to meet for sexy times but he's really worried about his appearance as he's recovering from lots of surgery for a brain tumour and has mobility issues that he's self consccious about. But after being reassured by a mututal girl friend that he's a nice guy, she goes to the hotel, puts on a blindfold and lies down on the blossom strewn bed. The guy comes out of the bathroom, sexy times happen, everybody's happy.

Except...

One time they're doing the do and for some reason the woman takes off her blindfold. And who should be standing there but the mutual friend - I'm assuming still wearing the "prosthetic penis" – who encouraged her to do this ridiculous thing.

And the friend says... "It's not what you think."

No. No, I really think it is. What on earth else could it possibly be?!

Just when you think you've heard everything, the capacity of human beings to do the most bizarre, stupid things never fails to surprise.

In other news, I was seriously impressed that I managed to do the dishes last night while under the influence. I was, however, surprised to find a ladder in my hallway, and that I answered a few comments* too! I should drink more often : ) Clearly, I get stuff done : )

Your faces...I love them ♥

*apologies for any overt dorkishness while hammered : /

No, she consented to sex with the guy not her friend. It's like saying your boyfriend calling you up for a bootie call but then his mate turns up at the door and expects you to go through with it coz you said yes on the phone.

I've heard of this thing...it has a name...I can't remember...where frat guys take a girl home and want to fuck her doggie style, then when she turns around, another guy takes his place and does the deed while the original guy runs around to the outside of the building to wave at her from the window. It's rape...giving consent to one person isn't a licence for just anybody to fuck them.

I do wonder if it started out like that, her lovesick friend wanting to get closer to her, and it just got out of hand.

I do wonder if it being a female perpetrator clouds the issue. If it were a guy instead, I don't think it would feel like such a grey area xx

OK, you can just ignore this if you don't feel like discussing it further.

In all your examples, the girl knew her boyfriend in real life and knew that the person(s) who wanted to have sex with her were different people. They also seemed to enjoy the whole thing as a prank. The examples all sound horrible and I would view them as rape no question.

I may be getting the story wrong, but from I understood of your description, the victim, girl A lets say, didn't know the person she wanted to have sex with except through the internet. And "the boy" was actually her girl friend, girl B. She consented to whom she thought was a boy but was actually a girl. The same person, different gender. So it's really more like consenting to sex with your boyfriend and finding out he was actually a girl - or or a wider generalization - like consenting to sex with a person who had told you they were slim and tall and then finding out after the fact that they were large and short.

I'm a bit stuck on the fact that this girl agreed to be blindfolded and have sex with someone she didn't even know (except on the internet). People lie all the time in their descriptions. I guess the key is that she trusted her friend's assessment that he was a nice guy. Maybe it made her mad especially in that sense, that she had trusted her friend and felt betrayed.

I think there's zero doubt that the victim was an idiot, but I still think that agreeing to have sex with a man she didn't really know, doesn't mean she consented to having sex with a woman she did know.

It'll be interesting to see what the jury thinks in the end. xx

Oh definitely. It was wrong. I'd say she'd have a better chance with a fraud charge though :P
