Day One

Are We Having Fun Yet? was the first thing I had written in a really long time and my first fic on LJ. I was voraciously reading my way through ash_carpenter's work when I read Distraction and it was so good, I started to badger her for a sequel. But then I figured the poor woman probably gets harrassed all the time and maybe I should give her a break and try it myself. So I wrote a thing. It wasn't horrible and I posted it! And then she read it...I've never been so scared in my life...and she didn't hate it! She liked it! So when I say that my being here and posting the kind of stuff that I do, is all her fault, I really, really mean it.
I am the Alpha and the Omega Part 2 was when I realised that my muse is a Sadist. I wrote something and figured it was quite sad but then all the commenters seemed to be dying of angst. I didn't set out to do that it just came out. I never imagined I could write something that affected people in that way and I was, and kinda still am, stunned that I could. I also really loved writing it. Especially the final image. It makes me teary thinking about it. Poor Baby.
Gods and Monsters I went through a spell of fighting my muse. I didn't really want to write the dark stuff. I really didn't want to be depressing and angsty. So my muse left and it was awful. When she came back, thanks mostly toskeletncloset knocking her into shape, I wrote this. It seemed to just fall out of my brain onto the page and it's dark and awful and fucked up and revolting and it turned my stomach writing it and I think it's the best thing I've ever written. I'm really proud of it. It's not perfect but it feels like progress. To me it's the story that's important and the p*rn bits are just a means to that. I really felt like I made a story with this. That I found my voice.
My muse has horns but we snuggle and she pets my head and reminds me it's all pretend and I don't feel so bad.

After what feels like weeks of sitting here with a head of emptiness (no blonde jokes please) begging and pleading with my muse to stop mucking about while she cackled in the corner and horded the plot bunnies like toilet paper...I finally wrote something.
I'd like to take the credit for getting her to straighten up and fly right but I can't and won't.
It tookskeletncloset to hold her down and in her best alexadean voice, exorcizamus te the shit out of her for which I am eternally and profoundly grateful.
And then I wrote something. And then it became clear that my muse hadn't been sick or mad or petulant...she was evolving into something else.
My muse has horns...and a long red tail, ending in a flint-sharp arrowhead that she flicks like a switchblade. And she's a hugger.
What was written is in a place so far beyond okay, I was nearly a little bit sick in my mouth. But then I realised that if this is what I write, this is what I write and you all don't have to read it if you don't want to.
So, words are coming, being beta'd as we speak.
So this is me, warning you, paraphrasing BW, that if it is wrong, then I've given up on wanting to be right and I just hope you all still respect me in the morning x

As I'm trudging round to the other end of it with two tired dogs, an awkward heavy bag and the week long headache threatening to return, my 'oh man, hope we can get back into the house' turns somewhat abruptly into a 'oh man, do we really want to go back to the house' when the army bomb disposal rolls by.
( So this happened... )
Anyway...*hugs you all*...enough of that x

Tuesday - Recs and stuff

It's been a long, slightly horrid week so very glad to make it to Tuesday.
Sooo looking forward to tonight's ep. Have managed to avoid any spoilers so have no clue what's going to happen but I'm assuming there may be some epic Ezekiel action, or at least that's what I'm hoping, cliff hanger and all.
Part of the reason this week has been icky has been my muse's steadfast refusal to put out. She has taken the plot bunnies and headed off to parts unknown, leaving a cryptic note that would take a prophet to decipher. I swear one of the words is 'falafel'.
Anyway, I expressed this state of affairs to a couple of folk and realised trying to come up with excuses for her being a lameass is actually kinda fun. Like the writer's block equivalent of 'Yo Mamma". I shall undoubtedly add more to this list until she gets her arse back in gear.

Just when I stopped crying, she posted this and I started all over again. It's beautiful but agonising as you can feel her grief poured into it. Read it and then send her hugs.

My fic is all sticky (not in a good way) and my muse has run off with my plot bunny, so I'm feeling a little...meh
However : )
As far as 9:08 went..

So after next week there's way too many days til the following ep so I shall probably rewatch S8 and 9 so far and maybe S7 depending on how much Festive stuff I can get out of. I find it much easier to take in the story when I watch it in chunks and get to see all the lovely sub text too. Just warning you there may be eggnog fueled babbling...as opposed to the regular kind : )
Wanted to rec some stuff I've seen this week.
Don't you cry no more is a super fic by sixtysevenimpalaThe first time Sam gets hurt on a hunt. Really loved this take on Dean keeping Sam safe. The tone is great. I read it as gen though it says wincest in the warnings. Teen and up / 3000
When Memory Fades byephermeralk is just fab. Really good story, brilliantly told. Made me all sad and happy and sad...really loved it. Wincest / NC-17 / 3800

This is the first of this author's I read and it's most definitely not for everyone. It's Weecest.
Which usually squicks the hell out of me but this is so well written, just so beautifully done...there is sex stuff but not in a creepy way...and gives a whole new dimension to the whole amulet story. I will never be able to look at it in the same way again! NC-17 / 3800
Anyway, I love her writing style, even when there's very little dialogue, she has the voice and tone down amazingly well, the stories are really well crafted. I'm working my way through them.
If you can find something she's written in your wheelhouse, read it.
Another great one is Nothing Like a Bad Idea (Sam is 16) which is fun but also really clever and well observed...and porn but hey... NC-17 / 3800
This is a great gif set of the faces of Dean, that I really liked. It's missing the lovely Brock and Dylan but it has some of his best facial expressions and moments.
These are pictures of Dean/Jensen's naked self...well, naked bits of him...well, his naked belly. Just sooo bite-able...grrr
And finally, I saw this on Pinterest and was surprised at just how many sounded like SPN episodes!
I'm sure there's a psychological lesson in there somewhere.
I think I might use them as story prompts in the future but I wanted to share them as they made me laugh so hard!
